                  To put the Kitchen in before the Flooring is at least from a german perspective really unusual, is there a particular reason for that or is that just the way its done over ze pond ?

                      We can let the screed dry for longer.  The stone slabs do not need to go to the walls, just under the plinth of the base units (saving about 6-8 square meters of the expensive floor) and we do not need to worry about trashing the floor, because we will lay it after most of the work and decorating has been done,,,,

                        That makes a lot of sense, these days everything has to be totally modular and fast un-/redoable so i never had a project where that was an option, great idea.

                          Today, we started prepping what was the old kitchen, will be the new dining room.  Bit of stripping out, plastering and installation of the fireplace  (Victorian marble one I bought off The Bay for £200) next on the agenda….

                                Fireplace revealed…Phone numbers on the chimney breast were left there for the builders when we rescued this house from decades of neglect 13 years ago....

                                Bit of sorting out to do with these….

                                  Freezer being moved (in style)…..

                                  Took the opportunity of using my mates pick-up to move a teak table I bought on The Bay from home (where it was really too large) to the office….

                                  And brought this one back, which is a better size for the new terrace….

                                          And the Portland Stone flags for the floor turned up.  Unfortunately, a couple of slabs had suffered in transit…...But I erred on the side of caution when I ordered it (I hope), so we should be OK...

                                            You are a wise man Giles if every piece woulve survived i´d would´ve probably been a first in the history of human kind.

                                            The Portland Stone is a really beautiful Piece of Nature, that shure will look great in the new kitchen.
