Going all the way across Belgium with three ornithologists to count hen-harriers… Cold, miserable, but out and about surrounded by beautiful landscape...

All kinds of data… It's my mate's job (or part of one of many jobs he does, most of them related to ornithology), my nephew's passion and future job (he just returned fom Georgia, the country, where he spent three months studying one type of bird to write his thesis on that subject), and my brother's passion (photography + ornithology)...
We also met up with a handful of locals (professional ornithologists) to help with the count... It's a regular thing though, just to keep an eye on where the herrier-hens sleep and such...

Anyway we saw a shitload of birds, studied some badger holes, did a lot of standing around in open fields in freezing weather; still trying to thaw the one bollock I have left... BUT it beats sitting on the couch drinking...

Oh and I got a pair of Swarovski binoculars for the day to keep myself busy… Loads of fun those are!
