We've updated the "See what the crew wear here" bullet.  So you can go look at that, then check what size they wear in other stuff, like UHF's

you all had someone else on this list that I used to use for comparison, he no longer is on the list.  i cant remember, Jack?  someone that used to fit a lot of stuff in XL.  i just dont know if I am an XL in this or XXL?  Depending on the IH jacket I am one of those two sizes.  but with this amount of insulation I dont know what to go with.  I cant risk ordering and it not fitting.

Measure a similar jacket that you like the fit of using the IH way in the videos. That’s really the only reliable way to know how something will fit on your body.

@bigwhat62 you’ve got an N1 right (think we all agreed it was the 29)? I’d just dig the charts out for that and compare with this and get the one that matches closest (assuming you’re happy with how the N1 fits).

The point I was trying to make is that if John Doe wears the same size in a shirt and this jacket, then you will likely do the same, if John Doe wears an XL in a Ultra Heavy Flannel and an XXL in this, then you probably will too.

I typically wear XL in Ultra Heavy Flannel westerns (though I can squeeze into an L), and I wear an L in this jacket….

i totally understood, i was pointing out that there is no one on your list of folks that fits similar to me.  you did have someone else on your list before but I no longer see them listed.  do you have anyone in your team that wears XXL-XXXL in UHF?

I know that, what I was saying is there does not need to be if you know what size you are in a UHF, because you can see what others wear in this and in a UHF.  So if someone wears an L in this and an L in a UHF then its pretty reasonable to assume you would be the same in both too.

i totally get this now, went over my head.  i should look at how folks are adjusting their sizing for the jacket and make the same adjustments on my end.  shouldnt make a difference on the actual size, just know to go up or down or the same. sorry about that.  i need to go double check my UHFs, i think the westerns fit tighter on me than the workshirt.  thank you for your help.

I assume that you can wash the parka in the washing machine like all outdoor or winter sports jackets. It is best to choose a gentle cycle with a maximum temperature of 30° C or 40° C and a low spin speed. To wash the jacket gently, you should use little liquid detergent (no fabric softener). This is because washing powder can get stuck in the fibers of many materials and reduce breathability. Also wash inside out to protect the fabric.

I am reading up on the eVent fabric to see how different it is from the stretched polytetrafluoroethylene. I completely agree with you regarding liquid vs washing powder.

This eVent membrane is a remarkably interesting alternative. Nice breathability parameters among other things.

This is a monster of a jacket!!

I admit that I did not expect it to impress me as much as it eventually did. The main motivation for purchase was the necessity, eVent membrane parameters and the fact that Haraki hinted on the price increase for all PrimaLoft products. But when I finally put it on, it was the cut that made it for me. It is my first ever winter jacket that fits and feels good. The details are as expected from IH, the durability will really show itself after some use and abuse, but it feels built for eternity.

And while earlier I was inquiring on how to wash it, recently the man himself (Haraki) was washing his (after few years of use), and with fantastic outcome. It was all done in washing machine with only spinning omitted to avoid wrinkles and rub lines. No fuss!

I am attaching his pictures from drying.

                                    It’s a keeper!

Depending on the activity You might want to add few layers. The sleeves become more full and harder to bend depending on the number and thickness of the layers but so far, I found that with brisk walk / hiking at –6 degrees Celsius I only need my trusty crewneck from Woolpower (https://woolpower.se/shop/produkt/crewneck-200/) while I needed 13,4oz Henley from Merz b. Schwanen (https://merzbschwanen.com/shop/2s04-01-men-s-loopwheeled-henley-heavy-13-4oz-relaxed-fit-6952?collection=157) plus Extra Heavy Flannel from UES (https://www.japaneseselvagejeans.com/goods_en_SEK_1594.html) when standing for a longer time in the same conditions.
