I was foolish enough to let the mrs witness day 1 of breaking these in/button up, post soak. Going on day 3, crazy how quickly these go from plywood stiff to conforming to the body.  LOVE the XHS.  As always, IH crew was phenomenal in setting aside the largest waist measurement in my tag size, flawless hemming and great UK to US turn around time.

Well, my pair arrived and unfortunately they really aren’t a great fit. The waist is way too big, I can basically fit a fist in the gap. I also get fabric clumping/diaper butt. This really surprised me, I had been back and forth with the folks in the UK and the measurements looked good. These are a size 36, I feel like I’m probably two sizes down from these to get a proper fit.

Any thoughts? I wear Naked and Famous Weird Guys in a size 34, this works out to a measured 36 waist. The problem I have is in the Weird Guys I have restricted movement and keep blowing out crotches. They always feel tight in the crotch and thighs. I figured the 888’s were the answer.

What should I do? I don’t think a single size down is the answer. Do I size down to a 34 or look at a different model altogether? I really wanted these to work, don’t want to keep returning things either.

            Thanks!

@nrtphotos They are huge…and sizing down is an answer.  My best advise is to take your favourite jeans and measure the key areas the IH way.  Take those measurements and compare them to IH jeans to find a comparable match.

The link below is how IH measures jeans.

I really don’t think you’ll be happy with those jeans.  Good luck in your search!

Would you agree that it’s probably two sizes down, not one?

@nrtphotos …I can’t tell you that and feel it’s a bad approach to sizing jeans in general.  IH numbers/measurements are the absolute best way to size and any guessing will lead to jeans that you may be unhappy with (unless you get lucky).

Highly suggest getting a tape and measure jeans/pants/shorts that fit you well and starting from there.

@nrtphotos Though I typically go the 777 or 555 cut, I can agree wholeheartedly with @goosehd that going by the posted measurements for the specific jean or item you're getting and ignoring the waist size "number" entirely is the way to go.

I used that guide and did all the measurements, that’s why these are such a head scratcher for me.

Probably down to a 34. The tricky thing with the 888 is that although the waist dims come in slightly under tagsize, the high rise means you can go smaller.

Agreed.  Measuring the waist of an 888 is not the same fit as the same measurements in low rose jeans  like the 777 or 666.  The waist in each pair sits on a different part of your body and those pets have different measurements.  This is an area where unfortunately the sizing methodology recommendations from the crew can be tricky.  Ultimately trial and error is how I’ve managed to figure out my size over the years. Also keep in mind that once they’re broken in some of the things that concern you like bunching and diaper butt will disappear, especially with 25 oz which starts out very stiff.

Go 34 and don’t be afraid to let them stretch a bit. They def will.

Thanks guys. I think the 34 is the answer too. I think sizing down one size would be a mistake. I will ship these back when the label arrives and get the guys to put aside a 34. Really looking forward to having a pair that fits!

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I own a pair of 21oz 634s and love them.

I am wondering if this 25oz Ind/Blk is more "windproof" than the signature 21oz denim. I am looking for a more windproof option for colder weather on my motorcycle.

The 25OZ denim will give you about 5 more degrees of cold weather riding as compared to the 21OZ. WITH THE 21OZ 60 degrees was the over under for me where I started to think I might need thermals or chaps. With the 250Z I was good down to about 55 or so,but I found that chaps and 25OZ denim was too bulky around the back of the knees. Hope this helps.

I can’t give you the math like @Jett129 but the 25oz is definitely more windproof and more suitable for cold weather riding. Up to 50 degrees I have no issues wearing them without thermals.
Even the 14oz for me is more suitable for colder days than the 21oz due to the weave.

On the flip side I could wear the 21OZ comfortably in temps up to about 80. After that it’s just too hot for me. Used to be able to tolerate higher/lower temps on the bike ,but as I got older the temp range that I was comfortable riding in definitely narrowed.

I find it’s not the temperature so much as the humidity/dampness combined with the temperature.  I’ve ridden in 30-40 Fahrenheit temps with dry conditions and been fine, but in 50-60 with damp conditions and damn near felt like I was freezing to death.

Trying to decide on the hem length. I would like the finished product (after shrinkage) to be around 29.5 inseam. should I get a 30.5 hem or a 30.0 hem? Not sure about the shrink? a full inch?
