I'll agitate em — just doing it in the tub, though. As I've said ad nauseam, my "fancy" Maytag washer is a piece of trash that loves to fuck up jeans, so I'm just not doing that. I'll probably give em two hot soaks and see what kind of results I get. I've done this with all other pairs of jeans I have, plenty of em unsanforized, and it's always been fine. No fade shifts as far as I've been able to tell.
FWIW after the initial hot soak(s), my jeans never see hot water again. I wash em by hand in the tub in cold water, works great for me.

That's what I ended up doing. I soaked twice (two different days), hot water (almost too hot bare handed), and hand agitated…and all inside out.
Hand wash for the first year and now just throw them in the washing machine (inside out) and cold water.
Good luck...they are worth it!

Thanks man! I'm glad to hear that worked out for you — makes me feel like I've got the right plan. I'm psyched as hell for these things. Also pretty sure I'm gonna have to be a total masochist and wear em as much as I can stand in the TX heat, because I don't think I can wait til it gets cooler

Gave mine a soak this morning with the tap on full hot — scalded my hands a bit giving the jeans some agitation, might chill just a wee bit on the temp for the 2nd go-round haha…
Didn't do super precise before/after measurements, but did a quick check with a cloth tape and it seems like the waist, front rise, and inseam all came in around an inch. I tried them on to see how they felt, and the waist and rise seemed to loosen up back to pre-wash feel after a couple of squats. Will give em one more hot soak with agitation tomorrow.
This is my first pair of 634s — I tried some of the 17oz at one point but just couldn't get a pair that worked for me. These, however, are seeming like they'll be my favorite fitting IHs I've owned. Slimmer than I thought but still more room than 666, really perfect.

Well I will be you tomo night when mine arrive, the measurements are too big too me raw so I will potentially put them in the washing machine with no spin to get all the shrinkage out

You need to soak first, wash gently after. These are loom state so hopping over these steps may result in premature damage to material and stitching.

Hey @neph93 it just occurred to me — when you say soak first, then wash, are you actually using detergent on said wash? Is that necessary if they're brand new? I'm curious if that would have any effect on the denim. Sorta seems like it wouldn't make a difference, but of course I could be totally wrong.

Hey [mention]popvulture [/mention] - I do the same method you do for washing jeans. I’ve found that doing it myself in my tub gives me the results I’m looking for. What I believe the reason to be for soak them wash is that - the soak will saturate the cotton and then upon drying allow them to tighten up together for most of the constructional sewing. The wash afterwards is to get the machine to agitate the denim sufficiently to get all the shrink out.
What I think would be best for us, is two super hot tub soaks (use a thick plastic hanger / spatula / stiff non porous instrument to agitate in tub) and no need to add any detergent. The hot water, drying, and tub agitation should accomplish what a machine does with a little more elbow grease involved. I don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about using your method.
If anyone else has any other info, happy to be updated with better info. My tub journey starts tomorrow! [emoji369][emoji158]
