I enjoy tapatalk for the forum with the exception that you can’t “@“ someone using the tapatalk app. I’d be a happy camper if that worked. No complaints or suggestions otherwise…plus I have absolutely no idea how any of this works.

I was thinking same you can’t tag someone in the app, you  have to go to the browser and pictures are restricted in size upload using the Tapatalk

How you tag someone on Tapatalk. The @ plus name is coded different in the app. Using this button will allow a proper tag.

all these computer science stuff is beyond me. but it'll be nice to have a mobile layout for safari or chrome, without having to view desktop layouts..

Not sure I understand your concerns, but it sounds like you’re worried that the layout of the forum will change. It will not.

One of the key requirements from our side on the initial implementation is that the layout of the forum stays looking more or less as it does now in terms of the boards and child boards. This should keep the switch over as easy as possible for those who have been on here for a long time.

I believe they were referring to the COVID-19 virus going away and maybe possibly some slight apprehension to fear of the unknown. I think new forum software is a great idea, especially when you consider that IHUK gives this place to us for completely free. I am excited to see what the new platform will be like.  Thanks a lot Alex.

It works if you’re in Tapatalk, but not on a browser version. In other words, equally useless.

I’m not sure it even works in the app. When [mention]Fadez [/mention] tagged me above, it didn’t notify me anywhere.

Also, is using tapatalk frowned upon?  I access the forum on my phone and the web version is challenging to navigate through a browser for me but I do it when I need to tag someone.

I only use the the browseron my phone.  @Fadez ‘s are never right, as are those of others.  His are the only ones I’ve noted by name though.  So @neph93 is correct, useless.  I quit Tapatalk years ago. Reading posts was easier but all the functionality stunk.

It isn’t. But this is one of the main reasons for the migration. The forum is great (if archaic), on a desktop browser. But that does not work very well on a phone.

Tapatalk works on a phone but loses functionality. It also lags horribly at times, crashes, throws hissy fits and is generally a bit pop. So it serves a function but only just.

The hope for the migration is that we will end up with a more seamless mobile/desktop interface with parallel functionality.

Definitely does have problems Tapatalk like you said….

It very annoying

But sometimes you go with what it is…

Even it a great idea moving onto a better platform will be better for the future to come..

A lot of forum members know what I mean.
