IH-888S-SBG - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise SBG

Hey guys, looking to pick up a pair of these next, love the fade to grey look.
My only (I know there will be more soon) pair of IH jeans are 21oz 666's in 32. The waist is starting to open up, though was darn near impossible to button the top button at first. Every where else fits nice, though snug. Looking at the 32 sizing on the 888's SBG, the waist looks pretty small, but the higher rise makes me think it may work. I know these don't stretch as quick and easily as indigo, and I don't mind a slightly looser waist, 33" measures 32.4 which looks ok. Any opinion on what may be the better sizing for me? Key measurements are really the thigh, rise, and perhaps knee. Look at the sizes at or around what you think is your size, and compare these. Waist of sbg will end up around the same with washing, now that it’s one-washed, and stretch about an inch.
It seems to me if you like the fit of 666 top-block at 32, you could def get the same size in 888, may even be able to size down. Or, if I’ve misunderstood, and your 666 is 33, then I say go for the 32. The top block on 888 is a totally different animal, with a lot more room.

Thanks @sabergirl I do have the 32 in the 666. The only place on the jeans that are a bit tighter than what I'd like is in fact the top block. The waist is already opening up, thighs are tight, but good and knee down is perfect.

I think 32 would be the right call. Although you’ll fit fine into the rest of a 31, the waist might not be comfortable. That said, you can get the inch and change of stretch out of the sbg in 31, just might take a while and not be too fun.

@sabergirl is on the money here @Spencer35 The 666 top block is much more trim than the 888.
You’re also correct about the way the rise works. I can start 888’s at about 33” but need to start 666’s closer to 35”.
It’s like the song says, “I gotta small waist, pretty face and a big bank…”. Except my face is sort of ugly and my waist isn’t that small. I also need to stop using Tiktok [emoji23]

888 TTS sounds about right. Of course now I've also gone down the 555 rabbit hole. Too many great IH cuts, too hard too pick!

I actually don't use it but I teach high school and my students keep me up to date. Glad I'm not 16 anymore ::)
TTS or size does is the way to go with 888. You'll probably find TTS relaxed but flattering.

Curious if there is some kind of schedule to restocks? Pretty sure I need a 32 (same size as my 888S-21), and they’re sold out.
I wear my 8301s everyday for work & want to replace them with a pair of 888s. Love the fit!
EDIT: Disregard. Just gonna keep an eye out for the restock in 32. They’ll pop up eventually!

Question about sizing: I usually get a 36 inch waist in other brands and they stretch about an inch. Consensus seems to be that that will work for these, if I understand correctly? I would just need to wait until they stretch out a bit before soaking?

I have pair of these jeans. My experience is they do stretch in the waist and in other areas under tension like the thigh and seat. After a soak, washing machine run, or whatever you do to get your jeans clean with water, they will snug up again. And then you are back to stretching them out again. The only thing you will not regain is any length lost due to skrinkage. That said, this denim, like many of the IH denim types are already once washed, so shrinkage is minimal if at all.

Been loving the 888 cut lately so I sold my 555 SBGs and grabbed these. Much happier with the fit. I forgot how rigid brand new SBG denim feels, or maybe I’m just used to the comfort of the slubs, but I had a hard time with the top button. Couple of hours in and they’ve already relaxed considerably in the waist.
