that's where the Sous vide comes in @JDelage. It's a set it and forget it scenario, and the silicon lid means i don't even have to top off the water. Picking the meat from the bones takes a bit, but you are center stage to all the best nibbles.

Glorious post @jordanscollected. Absolutely glorious. Also I think that Valentines Day effort on your part is an excellent application for diversion of some minor funds away from the hobby farm and into your wardrobe! [emoji6]

That's very true Reuben. We have saved a ton over the pandemic year from not going out to eat or spending on other form of entertainment, and the win-win is that we value our small moments like cooking together or watching a movie with a homemade Mule more than before.

I try to squirrel away money for IH heart gear, but she knows where I hide all my nuts.

If you aren't already keen, I spend a lot of time around food. I have been working on my Japanese chicken Karaage, which is a fried chicken appetizer that I have been missing as of late. So we fired up the wok and got to wok, er… work. We also made some zucchini fritters (yes it was a shit dinner nutritionally speaking).

It's typically made with chicken thighs for ultimate fattiness and juiciness, but I had breast tenderloins at the ready and subbed in.

Marinate in sake, soy sauce, garlic and ginger for an hour, then coat in flour first, and potato starch second before giving them a double fry.  Our sauce is a Japanese mayo with some mirin, paprika, ketchup and other hibachi grill classic flavors.

When I was adding the chicken, I was getting some grease splatter, and i needed to find somethign to guard me from hot oil burns.

This next photo is not for the faint of (Iron) Heart.

Alright gang, I think I've run my course with the Mad Red. Thanks @neph93 for opening the discussion to include me. My 30 days will be up at the end of this week, but my wife and I leave for Arizona on Wednesday and though I contemplated bringing it with (think epic Mad Red + Red Rock photos), we are packing light and I'm not sure a leather jacket is proper hiking attire.

I was standing in for @Matty123 who is incredibly busy atm, Matty if you are ready shoot me a PM with your address and I'll get it headed your way. I'm happy hanging onto it for a bit too, the weather just shot up here so after I get back, it'll get more wear.

Thanks to all the guys who own this jacket for letting me have a go round.

Rueben please help navigate this next step if desired.

We were just browsing that site yesterday @Jett129. We plan to do everything by foot for now, but my wife did see a few tours of interest on Pink Jeep.

We have a love/hate relationship with anything touristy, though i know i could be called a hypocrite in many aspects of that thought process.

for example, in new Orleans we balked at going to see Oak Alley plantation for 5+ years because i won't get on a tour bus full of people, but finally last year we rented a car so we could travel on our own terms and timing.

My wife and I are totally with you on avoiding touristy trap kind of things, but the trade off is this takes you to places that you probably wouldn't be able to reach, safely,on foot. it is kind of scary at times. Obviously we loved it

Back from Sedona. We packed so light and tight that the Mad Red simply didn't have a space in the luggage. We had classic desert weather, waking up to 30 degrees and shooting up to near 70 by late afternoon.

We hiked 10+ miles per day for our 2 full days. It was a short getaway, but we have people taking care of the cat and the horses, so that's always a consideration.

My wife is a spiritual type of person, so meditation was a focus when we got to the vortexes and other high energy areas.

We hiked Boynton Canyon, The Mesa Airport Loop, Bell Rock, Oak Creek, Cathedral Rock, and a couple others. Our Air BNB was at the base of Thunder mountain and a short walk to the Amitabha Stupa.

The view from the Airport Mesa Vortex and Loop. this was especially cool because the airport sits up high and the 3 mile hike around it has great views the entire time.

                                back home to the snow.

you have to stop to take pictures, but after awhile they all look the same. my photo feed is a big red mountain collage.

the other thing to note is on most trails, you have to look down to watch your step, if you look around to enjoy the view, you'll end up on your face, or worse, off the side of a cliff. we almost learned that the hard way

agreed @Jett129 and the lack of college is a great point. The food scene was incredibly disappointing. either a menu was too boring, or too expensive to for what you got. We have no problem paying for high end meals, but don't try and charge me $40 for enchiladas.

We ate at the Local Juicery 3 times, and an extremely hippie restaurant called the ChocolaTree for lunch one day. Too much food designed for a typical snowbird like my parents.

One notable thing about food in Sedona is that it has the world's only McDonald's with turquoise arches instead of yellow.

Wish we weren't in a pandemic so I could have said hello!
