I love when UPS bullshits their delivery especially when ppl are home, door wide open with everyone able to look past the screen door, and claim they can’t deliver bc no one was home.
UPS suck. Last time I dealt with them was my Simmons Bilt jacket, I think. The guy knocked on my door while I was coming home from walking the dog. I was about 20m away and started shouting "I'm here, one sec" but within a breath of trying my door he just got back in his van and drove off. Even if I'd been in I'd have missed him, but there's no way he didn't hear me shouting.

It’s all down to the individual.
Our local DHL drivers are a couple of stars. But they are also two cheeky ginger nuts who everybody knows. If they fucked about they’d hear about it pretty quick.
I think there is a culture that goes with the job of taking the easy road and being lazy with deliveries. Not everyone has it, but it is widespread amongst all the delivery companies.
Edit: I’ll add that in Norway at least, being a professional vehicle operator of any kind is very, very badly paid.

@EdH:
Scotomas…
Can't see whatever I'm trying to look directly at for an hour or two... having to rely on peripheral vision while working at my computer is a PITA. Then I'll have a banging migraine later...
I had a student with a bad case of this a while back. Learnt a lot about it. Must be exhausting.

Same here… our UPS guy is a crabby Ghanaian... but we tip him alomst everytime. If he has to deliver something to the office and there is none he takes a detour and brings it to our home...

Our old DHL driver was great! I had his personal phone number and he would text me to see if I was home pre:delivery and if I wasn’t he would ask if he could leave it at the door. I routinely slipped him a six pack of beer for his help.
Sadly he changed routes and the new guy’s a twat…

Where in the world did you find a news site that actually shares GOOD news. I don’t think we have those here.
The BBC! It’s glory is somewhat dimmed, but still a bastion of journalism. The Guardian actually has a weekly column with only good news too, a little something weigh up for war, planet death, capitalism and so on.
I read most of the world news on the BBC website as I find they still put a little effort into articles. Sadly, a lot of Canadian news is just a video clip with a vague title and an even worse description of the clip. On written articles, they are either so extremely biased in either one way or another that you doubt the validity of the article or the journalist has just written a puff piece with no fact checking or investigation of the subject.
I know it was bad for the environment, but I miss newspapers and journalists who used to work for a week on an article to be published on the weekend. None of this breaking news continuous news cycle with little or no effort put into it.
Rant over…
