Tonight we’re going to my love’s adult children for BBQ. Said I would bring dessert - and found this recipe of a Lemon Swiss roll and amaretti trifle, which won some Queen’s anniversary dessert award thing. Had to overcome my anti-monarchist feelings, but it worked pretty well and looks quite nice, I think.

Friends of us have a new Teppan… we gave it a try today and did Okonomiyaki

I got a stainless steel griddle for my gas grill and teppanyaki is on the roadmap–starting with a Benihana style steak, shrimp, fried rice, zucchini, onion volcano kind of deal We already do this using a sautee pan and other things (often substituting quinoa for rice) but really excited to get closer to the actual teppanyaki next time

Yes seems to be very popular street food thing in Japan. First time I tried it but will definitely do it again…. a teppan is now on my list too.
