As a lover of SciFi, I am sorry to say that so far Apple TV's "Foundation" is (so far) very weak. Its one redeeming feature is that it's visually impressive. However, the characters are wooden. The overall story and the original concepts are excellent (thank you Isaac), but the TV rendition and subplots are feeble.
I'm starting to like it tbh… It has potential (thank you, Isaac)... Despite Lee Pace starring... Love/ hate relationship with that man... Terrific in HALT AND CATCH FIRE, but overall twat...

Haven't decided about Foundation yet, but at a minimum I'll enjoy as escapist sci fi. It's at least got that going for it. I didn't read the books so I may be less picky. I am somewhat nervous about the new Dune because I do have such a firm rendering of that story in my mind and think it would be difficult to shoot that movie. Which is what I feel Foundation would be like as well had I read the books.

Saw Dune last week. I’ve read the books many times and unironically enjoy the Lynch movie in spite of its many and obvious flaws.
There was a lot about the new film I loved. However I feel like I should wait on a holistic comment until I’ve seen part two.

Yeah–I like David Lynch's film too @neph93 as its own thing. I would love to see someone bring to film something that I think of as the Dune I read if that makes sense.
I have only read Dune, none of the sequels. I probably should. But Dune does great at being a self-contained story, so as much as I love the world Herbert built, have not gotten around to the sequels.

I finished the Ken Burn’s documentary on Ali last night and it was truly hard to watch. Ali was omnipresent in my childhood and I have vivid memories of him. Wondering if he was as iconic to those living outside the US? The documentary does a great job of exploring all of the parts, good and bad, that created his mythical persona. And because you know ahead of time the physical toll all the fights took on him, the tragedy of his later years is like a dark shadow around the corner. Tore me up to be honest.

Speaking of lessons @Jett129 the instructor I had long ago also was “teaching” Keith Carlock at the time. “Teaching” is in quotes because the student had surpassed the teacher long ago and everyone knew it. You never know how someone’s career will turn out but he wound up, among other things, Steely Dan’s touring drummer. Not a group known for slouching on talent, particularly drummers, with names like Purdie, Gadd, Porcaro, Blaine, Humphrey, etc

SUCCESSION S03 is now all politics, power moves and political power moves and so far I think it's absolutely FANTASTIC but then I'm all about those politics, power moves, and political power moves…
You wanna see some good ole acting?.. Some fine character building?.. Watch DOPESICK... The writing is on the nose but the story (in short: how Perdue got the US of A addicted to Oxycontin) is compelling... Maybe watch the doc THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY first...
TASKMASTER S12 is hugely exciting... Three candidates are neck-a-neck... I'm fucking rooting for Guz cause he's an unstoppable positive force...
TIGER KING S02: well we have to mention this... I'm halfway through the first ep and have a feeling they just gathered some b-side gossip and turned it into five eps...

NIGHT STALKER: HUNT OF A SERIAL KILLER was well made... If you need some time to... kill.
NARCOS S03: now I've read in numerous reviews that it felt like including all these new character and their storylines was needed cause there wasn't much else left to talk about for this particular timeline in Mexico... I might partially agree, but I absolutely loved the new faces... Victor and Andrea both acted the fuck out of their roles and although I have a man crush on Scoot, hearing her do the voice-over was a welcoming change...
