      @Palmer:

      Saw my boots at the finishing line during Wesco and Good Art's Instagram Live video yesterday. They're almost done!

      Sweet! That is pretty cool.

        …@Palmer that's great news man! That means it won't be long for mine! 😉

        ...unfortunately for me I wear a EE at minimum which relegates me to the 'custom' shop for all boots. Nothing off the rack. 😞

          @vaquero357 I'm a 14.5 so all my boots are custom too.

              It makes the boot warmer,which has it’s pros and cons,depending on the ambient temperature.

                @Alex_24 I like them for their warmth and stiffness.  They remind me of IH XHS jeans.  Super stiff at first (and for a long time), but once broken in are like a pair of sweatpants.

                Their warmth can be a little much for the heat of summer and I will often wear unlined during the hottest days (kind of like XHS jeans).

                Hope it helps.

                  Exactly, they are warmer and the shaft takes long(er) to collapse because they are stiffer.

                    Indeed, lined is warmer and they hold shape a bit longer.

                    I have both, I love the unlined because it had minimal break-in and is very comfortable and soft.
                    But I also love the lined shaft because it adds a bit of heft and looks/feels great.

                    I would say the biggest difference is temperature of the boots, you can't go wrong either way.

                    I do believe the Johannes will always be lined because of the construction (it needs a bit of stiffer/thicker walls because of the lack of heel cup).

                      Thanks for the input on the topic! I’m going to stick with my original thinking: no lining. I want a boot I can wear year-round, so extra warmth is not something I need. I think the Wesco Redwood leather is thick enough (7oz. oil-tanned) to suit my purposes. Plus, I’m going for Redwood Roughout, so the smooth side will be inside the boot anyway, which should allow for a comfortable wear.

                          I have a lined boss boot.  I liked it because it holds its shape better and just feels better overall.  It was hot wearing them during the summer though.
