Good point about Neil. I think I should have probably used the term “cow-punk” (as awful as that sounds).  Although his stuff with crazy horse is in that vein too. I remember when I first heard the intense staccato rhythm of “Graveyard Shift” paired with that telecaster…that stuff was made for me.

While my mind is on “country, alt-country, country-folk”, are there any Richard Buckner fans around here?  Guy doesn’t get his due I think

I wouldn’t consider myself a fan, but I like his music, at least the few songs I know of.

@Dmart Buckner’s first 4 albums are really good. I mean, the guy did an entire album based on poems by Edgar Lee Masters. He’s wonderfully weird. The album “Devotion & Doubt” is my favorite but it is a capital D Downer.

@Jett129 What a great track. Have you ever listened to any Bottlerockets?  They’re good stuff too I think.

@mclaincausey  Cow punk, when you hear it , you know 😉

@Jett129 @mclaincausey  The Bottle Rockets “1000 dollar car” brings back lots of good (and not so good) memories from my youth.

“A thousand dollar car, it’s life was through
‘Bout 50,000 miles before it got to you
Why did I ever buy, a thousand dollar car”  😁

@Jett129  that is great stuff!  I don’t know how I missed the Del Lords. Also didn’t know about their guitarist working with The Bottle Rockets. So good

That’s so good!  They have a song simply called “dog” that has been played on repeat by my kids because we got a pandemic puppy this past year.

I read a story recently about Brian Henneman and him retiring from the band and the “road”. Basically he just didn’t want to be away from home anymore. He had a hell of a run. He played on the first couple Wilco records I think and maybe the last Uncle Tupelo record.

Every song that has Gavin Harrison playing drums is worth watching. Having said that, I can't pinpoint exactly what it is but Pineapple Thief haven't really resonated with me the way I'd expect. Although from what I've seen and heard they might be a case of better live than on record.

Though, I will NEVER understand what possesses fans to clap during a performance (and on the one!) unless the band has indicated they want that. The band has this, they don’t need your help. STFU until it’s time for applause, noobs!

@mclaincausey the clapping on the 1 thing is so phenomenally obnoxious. I love this clip of Harry Connick Jr where he flips what he's playing to get them back on the 2/4 — you can briefly see a member of his band cheering when he does it.
