Will soon join the XHS club. My 666 XHS is on it's way. I tried the 555 cut, but somehow my body shape is not the best fit for that beautiful denim. I used to wear the 666 in 21 oZ and now decided to take the plunge and go with the 666 XHS. I usually wear size 31, but decided to size down considering the stretch that I will get after a few months. Now starts the wait for the post to deliver the package.

I sized down on my 666-XHS for the waist and thighs and to be honest I regret it. Even though this particular model seems to run a size big I don't know if I'd do it again. The measurements of the top block on the 36 are basically the same as my normal size, 38, but it sure does feel different. The most noticeable differences in my experience have been the thighs and low rise.

I thought it would get better but even after like 100 wears they're definitely my least comfortable and most inflexible pair of jeans. I took my normal size 38 in the XHSib version and they fit and feel 1000x better. If I had to do it again I'd just deal with having the waist be a little loose with my usual size or pick a different pair of 666.

This experience has once again illustrated to me that not every model of a cut I like will work for me. I'll think long and hard about ever sizing down again.

That being said I'll probably wear this pair again when it cools down, just not when I need to have a good range of motion or lounge.

Its worth the time and effort to go through the right sizing...crunch those numbers until you feel good about it:)

But don't these run a bit big for the size? For example., the Size 30 has a waist of 81 cm which is more or less around Size 31? Considering this I went for tag Size 30.

@the246guy yes - go by the posted measurements not the tag size.  Sizing varies from lot to lot and there is even some variation in sizing within a lot.  From experience, if there are any concerns like if you need a size 30 with a waist that is a little bigger than posted, the team will try to accommodate.  I think what others were getting at is that if you size down from the posted measurements you may be in for a less than pleasant experience.  The 25oz will stretch some, but no where near the amount the 21oz do.

81 cm around the waist is pretty much close to my sweet spot. Given that this will stretch half to 1 inch with wear, it would be more than ideal. I would have expected the thigh to be a bit bigger, but it is definitely not a deal breaker. I did not size down from the posted measurements, but rather on the tag size. I understood that the tag size is just a number and it is the actual measurements that matters. So I did go for my TTS with Size 30. It should be here tomorrow. Excited for my first XHS.

Hurray, the XHS is here! Man it was a struggle to get the waist done and was even more struggle to get it undone. The waist is a bit tight, but I guess that there is going to be some stretch on it and that should make it comfortable over the next weeks or may be next months. But nevertheless it is a keeper for me. I like the fit.

Should I soak it? If not I would like that the XHS sees water after about 6 months of wear.

You can choose. I always soak my XHS in order to get the last bit of shrinkage out (about .5” in the waist normally). I like knowing how it’s going to be later. You can wear straight out of the bag to stretch the waist a little and then soak.

I would not wait six months with the soak if you are going to wear them a lot. The fades and creases will set, and then you may find that new creases form in different places because of the shrinkage.

That sounds like a plan. So you mean I wear it for a week or so and then give it a Soak? Warm or cold? What do you recommend? So that shrinkage after soak of about 0.5 inch - Would I gain it back? I cannot afford to let it stay there. It would then be uncomfortable.

Like neph93 says. Up to you. I never soak my jeans before wearing them. I really like that stuff new feel. They always seem to change after a soak. I just wear them until I feel they need a bit of a cleaning then either soak them or just spot treat it. One thing I like to do along with many others that I’ve seen on here is treat the leather patch with a preservative of some kind. I don’t think it matters what but I’d stick with something natural. Enjoy them!

I tend to soak in cold. And if they really need it throw them in the washing machine on cold or warm with some woolite for darks.

I'm with @neph93 @the246guy . I would be pretty nervous going along and not knowing what the end state of my jeans is going to be when they inevitably get wet down the line. I take that uncertainty out of the picture right away with a soak and natural dry. Yes, they change after a soak. That's kind of the point–they're gonna get wet, and you should not be afraid to wash them when you need to.

They will contract, but areas that get tension (the waist, to some degree the pant length due to gravity) will stretch back out.

                                  Think it, be it.

My routine: hot soak inside out with a bit of agitation for about an hour, hang for about 5-10 minutes, then wear wet for a couple hours making sure to move around, bend my knees, sit, etc. (just make sure to put a towel down before you sit, otherwise your seat will end up blue).  Then I hang them to dry the rest of the way.  This does a few things - 1) removes any shrinkage that's left in the jeans 2) wet denim stretches easier than dry denim, so while wearing them wet sucks, it makes the first actual wear a lot more enjoyable  3) the bending and moving while wet helps set in creases faster

Usually I would be worried about creating knee bags wearing wet denim but I swear the XHS never stretches so much that it's unflattering. I might try this out on my next wash.

I did this when I got my pair of XHS and I WOULD NOT advise doing it. I didn’t think I was ever going to get them unbuttoned.  😃 If you’re going to do this, maybe use something to stretch out the button holes a bit before you out them on.
