How does the weave of the 18oz compare to the 21oz?

I adore the way my 21oz 777s feel. Considering expanding the collection to include a 666 cut and some vintage denim, especially if my office ends up letting us wear denim every day.

        777 fit in heavyweight, plz

Pretty open ended question on my part, but does the tighter weave on the 18oz make them feel comparable to the 21oz in terms of weight?

I really just need to get my hands on some 18oz IH denim and see what it feels like.

As you’d imagine it feels a little lighter. The 21oz denim seems heavier than it’s heft. The double twisted weft makes it thicc and squishy.

It definitely feels lighter. It drapes immediately without a brake in period. The hand is very different.  The 21oz feels softer. Not sure if it stretches as much as the 21oz. I have about 2 weeks of wear on mine and it still feels like day one vs the 21oz already starts stretching easily by day 3.

Wore mine today. This denim is breathable enough for consistent wear throughout the year.

Was thinking about this 18oz for the warmer months. Would you say its fairly breathable? Or should i be looking into the 14oz stuff?

I remember it being very wearable in warmer weather.

@neph93 is correct per usual, but I'll layer my take on:
They're fine in any weather, but 14oz would IMO be better for hot weather (I have the 14OD, so it may differ–I'd bet if anything slightly less breathable and tighter, so the indigo may press the advantage further). The 18oz is one of my favorite denims of all time though so if I had to get just one I would deal with the minor difference in climate between the two and have a solid all-season jean. The 14oz is also an outstanding denim.

                                    Think it, be it.

I wear the 22oz pronto jeans all the time but they are a lil too warm during the summer. Even on my bike i feel they are too much. My Strike Gold (current summer pair) need to go and be replaced.
Id rather just plain indigo then OD as i have a pair of SBG and they would look too similar

I like The Strike Gold but man they are (deliberately, to be fair) NOT durable. Iron Heart has spoiled me. I am wearing my 5105 this summer after some repairs, alternating with the jeans of this thread. We had triple digits for several days and the 18oz was still wearable, but not really ideal. They do great in 80 degrees and start to be a bit hot for me 90s+
