Actually, I’m only half crazy.
…An interesting story on this stack I was telling Z. about the other night..I got two pairs from Japan and the post lost them so I contacted the store and asked if there was some way they could trace it. They just sent 2 replacement pairs and then the original order showed up 3 months later all beat to shit. That’s how this pile happened. I even contacted them and told them when they arrived to see if they wanted them back but they didn’t respond. I felt bad because they were so cool about everything.
Then I wasn’t sure how to hem them so I just waited and soaked a few times to see what would happen. Just now getting around to putting in rotation. I had them stored.

This is the kinda reaction I’m striving for with my boisterous cuff deployment:
Fuck everyone and everything.

When I’m not certain about how to wear something I just go to one of the Japanese IH Instagram accounts. Those guys and gals know what they’re doing. Big cuffs as far as the eye can see.

I think I got all the shrink out of them…. I did one six hour cold soak, one boiling soak, 30 minutes in the bucket washer, and then 30 minutes in the washer on hand wash just to be safe. The inseam shrank from 37.5 to 34.5. seems like the leather patch is now toast. But maybe it will look cool?

I just noticed how much leg twist I got. Look where the tag I am pointing to is in correlation with where the bottom selvedge detail is.

That's just like a good loomstate denim should behave and look like
-
Yeah, it is just interesting to me. I don't recall ever having a pair twist so much. It's almost passed 45°…I also can't believe they shrunk over 3 inches in the inseam too. That's really crazy. I'll bet, on a hot summer day, if you were to get a brand new pair of these and wet them and then lay them on a hot sidewalk, you could probably watch them shrinking.
Also the patch is both toast and looks beautiful now they are dry.
Also I didn't get any streaks or marbling or anything at all. I just got this weird vertical crease from when I initially folded the jeans in half to get the in bucket.

the patch looks killer !

I like the way it looks in a way… but I ideally do not like when the patches get all brittle. I put several coats of boot oil on the patch even while they were soaking.
