      Has anyone ever tried to chainstitch a hem by hand? What did the results look like?
      Got some Filson Double Tin bibs which come unhemmed, thought that might be interesting to try. With the material being waxed, I’m not sure if someone would be willing to do it commercially. Guess I’m thinking the wax could somehow gunk up someone’s machine… at least I’m not willing to take the risk with my wife’s sewing machine! 😃 Though that would be just a plain stitch hem.

        Looks good, @den1mhead. Who did the repair?

        Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

        Cheers @sabergirl - The Denim Doctor in Manchester, £19.95. I had my doubts about whether he'd be able to do the repair as the damage was pretty comprehensive but he didn't seem phased. I'm happy with his work plus it's barely noticeable due to its location.

        Looks beyond repair in the 1st image he's done an amazing job! Will keep Denim Doctor down as a mental note

          I recently acquired an A2 Deck Jacket from brand August Fifteenth, 8.15, and felt right from the off the it was missing something. Doing some research I found the RMC version of the A2 Deck Jacket has an U.S.N. stencil above the breast pocket;

          I looked into getting my hands on stencils to add U.S.N. to the jacket myself but either drew blanks or the stencils were not ideal or worse still I had to buy the complete stencil alphabet.

          If anyone has a U.S.N. stencil available / for sale please pm me.

          Whilst searching the internet I found an embroidery place called Ceeflair only 20 miles from where we live and started a dialogue with them about adding an embroidered U.S.N. above the breast pocket.

          The jacket is now with Ceeflair and they've just sent me an embroidery sample of U.S.N. for approval and I've given them the green light to go ahead. The sample;

          I realise this method is not standard but needs must am looking forward to receiving the finished product. Will post a picture here when I have the jacket back from Ceeflair.

            I collected my August Fifteenth, 8.15, A2 Deck Jacket from Ceeflair Embroidery & printing today after getting U.S.N. embroided above the breast pocket.

            A few emails later, posting the jacket to Ceeflair, waiting a few days and collecting it today. Here are the results and I have to say that I am super stoked with the outcome.

                    After the successful modification by CeeFlair Clothing & Embroidery to my August Fifteenth A2 Deck Jacket where I had U.S.N. embroidered above the breast pocket I felt ready to explore more. Whilst (unsuccessfully) searching for stencils I found this stencil template and Ceeflair provided me with this emboidery sample so my jacket is now with them having this new piece of emboidery added to the top of my right arm. Photo to follow upon receipt of jacket;

                      Whilst on a repair & modification journey I decided to add some badges to my USAAF Type B-15 Jacket. The jacket, as standard, comes with an "Army Air Forces" print at the top of the left arm. I have purchased three badges and am waiting for them to be stitched to the jacket in the positions shown below;

                            Cheers peeps. When I was in the RAF patches were important for identification purposes as name, rank and squadron were all necessary and present on your flying suit. The embroidery comes with a bit more risk and reward due to its increased level of permanence.

                                Ha… same. I have a small stash of excellent virgin patches that I have had plans for. Some of them have been in the drawers for four or five years.

                                  Received my August Fifteenth A2 Deck Jacket back from CeeFlair Clothing & Embroidery today with a second piece of embroidery added to the original U.S.N. piece that they did for me two weeks ago. Really happy with the second piece and think it works really well with the U.S.N. To say I was originally going down the stencil route, but was unable to source anything suitable, I am over the moon with the outcome;

                                          I’d fix that straight away, it won’t get smaller. If you do it yourself then check the whole area for thinning, then apply a piece of denim that covers that area and not just the hole.
