This summer while on holiday outside of Ålesund, my father-in-law found an old box smoker in the family matriarch’s garage. We took it back to Bodø. My father in law was given a catch of fresh trout and char, yesterday by a friend with a net out in a nearby lake so we went up the cabin to try the smoker out for tje first time…

Enjoying a calm, peaceful beer. Sort of.
This was the second run. Enough for lunches all week.
Pretty good day, all in all. Topped off with a tasty autumn sunset.

It has its moments! Should be said that the previous week consisted of perpetual gale force winds and horizontal rain, with the occasional appearance of machine gun hail [emoji1]

What I/we, family and precious & talentuous local guy, did these last months…[emoji123][emoji12]
The construction of an annex to our cabin. Bedroom on the river side. With Glass door XHS ordered. With a long wooden terrace on stilts. Other part will be to an atelier & wooden logs. Scaffolding removed last night. Yes!
Big press & priority was to be done with the rough. Winter is coming soon…and the winter there is...
It will be solar panels on one part of the rough. Very excited about that. It is my BB!

Norwegian building regs are boss. More on that from me coming to a new thread soon…
I mean dang… that looks to be almost entirely 2x6 and 2x8s used for framing and joists lol [emoji23]
We have to have homes rated to 160+ winds here in hurricane alley, and most framing is 2x6 and 2x4 only.

Our cabin is situed in zone 7. It means...don’t joke with the winter...
