I always like the BoDeans; never liked the Violent Femmes, though. Blister In The Sun rivals Love Shack by the B-52s for title of the most irritating song of the 80s/90s.

My opinion was totally subjective, of course. I can understand being annoyed by Blister In The Sun. It's not for everyone. I can definitely understand being annoyed by Love Shack, because I am. But, if we're going to pick the most irritating song of that era, I beg to differ. The Proclaimers, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) takes the cake.

I suspect Violent Femmes had a different cultural caché in the UK in 1989/90 compared to the USA. You were indie AF if you had their first album (which I did [emoji41]). The B52’s were cheesy by comparison.
