@Solomon Thanks for the mention, I appreciate that.

Firstly, not being in the States, I don’t have any personal experience with the 633 cut. So I can’t help much there other than to say it fits the bill for what you’re looking for. One thing I will say, and it is more a matter of personal taste, is the I like a taper that starts at the thigh (555 and 888) rather than one that starts around the knee (633). It is just more elegant and more flattering for most people.

When it comes to sizing, the OD is wildly different to the XHS. If you want a 30” waist when they are broken in the you will probably need a starting waist a good inch less than that in the OD. It is stretchy af. The good news is that sizing down in the 888 will minimise the high rise. The OD will also crease easily in the top block, causing the waistband to sit further down with wear.

Speaking of top blocks, if you like a bit of room then be careful with the 633, especially in XHS.  The 633 top block can be trim and take it in tightly woven, heavy denim and it may test your tolerances. That being said the XHS is amazing in every way.

You’ve chosen my two favourite denims here so you can’t go wrong there. I’m a big fan of the 888 cut too (ass + thighs + short inseam means it is flattering for me).

I hope that unfocused waffling helps, let me know if you have anymore questions.

I'm clearly a bit of a waffler myself, so very much appreciated Neph. And I'm super glad you were the first to reply - was hoping that'd be the case.

Thanks for the guidance on the 633 in combination with the XHS. I was leaning toward the 888S-OD because I was a little intimidated by the prospect of taming the XHS as my first foray into the wonderful world of IH.

On the waist size, I confess I really don't know if I'm a 30 inch waist of not. I'd read your take on the OD being super stretchy which is why I was so interested in getting your take on which size to go with. My PBJs definitely are 15 inches the Blue Owl way, and maybe closer to 29-29.5 the SE way, but maybe that's why I'm not crazy about them. (They're not tight at all but not a relaxed fit either.) I was kinda thinking I'd order the 30s first, and if those aren't sufficiently tight, I'd return them and go for the 29. Also wondering if the 29 thighs would be sufficiently roomy - SE has a much bigger spread between the thigh sizes on their site (11.2 vs. 11.5) vs. IH's measurements. Go figure, they're normally pretty close.

You want OD to be tight in the waist and thigh at the start, uncomfortably so. If they fit straight out of the bag they are too big.

The differences in measuring create some issues obviously. Seeing as IHUK have measurements for the 888-OD here I would measure the waist and thigh of your best fitting pair the IH way (see the videos on site), and compare with IH measurements. Once you have an idea of what your optimal waist/thigh should be you will be able to take a good edu-guess at the right tag size for you.

Much obliged. Will do my best to go on the tighter side to start. Part of my challenge is that I really only have one pair that fits ok in the waist and I seem to get slight variations each time I measure, in part because the jeans seem to have more of a curved waistband now that they're broken in (loose weeve). Think I'm close enough now after many tries; using the IH way I get 31 inches so going to try the size 30. Definitely need a hem at some point but will wait until I get the sizing sorted out.

Not that I noticed. The forst think to come off would be the black fugitive dye and it just doesn’t transfer the same way as indigo.

@Palmer this is how I get around the issue of kilties slipping down towards the toe.

That'll work but you still may find the kiltie eventually works it way down towards the toe. With a few different methods in your arsenal you will no doubt find a solution that works all the time. Great boots btw  😎

It is almost impossible to judge based on your body measurements. The recommended method it to measure a shirt you own that fits well using the same method as shown on the product page, then buy the size that is closest. That being said, I doubt you need XXXL if you weigh 212lbs.

Those measurements look to be a little on the small size compared to the published measurements. Mine is also a little bit smaller than published measurements, but definitely not as tight as that one. Maybe you @Javier could ask IHUK if they have an XXL with bigger measurements as opposed to sizing up to a XXL. Or maybe there’s an XXXL that is smaller?

Is IH denim treated with starch as a sizing? And if so, what's the source of the starch? Corn, wheat, etc.?

Has the IH denim been treated with formaldehyde, as are most conventional denim jeans? If not, why isn't this mentioned? And vice versa? Seems like an important distinction between raw and non-raw denim.

                                            Thanks.
