Well they say that time loves a hero but only time will tell.
I've been holding out on washing the 666XHS, wearing them a lot, realizing that this could take awhile. Finally the buttons don't leave me crippled for a week. But today I had to give them a good soak because I could hear my dear mother's voice from a distant past reminding me of the difference between pretending to be a hobo and looking like one. And then I was reminded how washing 25oz jeans may well leave them crisper, stiffer than they were, by a lot. Not much fade, really none I could detect. But surely a bit cleaner. We're back to our usual three seasons of winter here in western New York so it's a good time for 25s. The current pair are about a year old and have seen plenty of days but this could really take a while… I'm firmly convinced that they are going to outlast me.

My pair are getting on a bit now. About four years old I think, with around 250-300 days wear all told. We are well into that season here but mine have been recently washed and are in for repairs, so I’m missing them.
The point being, you’re right, it does take time but the next chance I get I’ll show you the payoff.

This morning I was pulling the washed pants, now dried on the rack, back to outside because I washed them inside out. As I was doing this, my wife entered and was watching me and she said, "You definitely do not have a vagina." She went on, "If you had a vagina those would be just too stiff." I replied, "Well you do like other stiff things…" You can imagine where it went from there. Hehe...

Thank you sir, they are much loved. I need to take some detail pics. There is some great contrast on the front of the top block, and the wear and tear on belt loops, pocket seams and the hem is pretty yummy.

They may do! They’ve been repaired quite a few times and I’m not sure how many more times I can shave the crotch myself without sending them to some denim wizard… but no plans to retire them yet (I have two pairs of 21oz that are retired or in semi-retirement).
I’ve cropped this to make it less Robert Mapplethorpe, but this is a good example of what happens on high friction areas when the warp starts to go:
