In 2018, @Madame Buttonfly and I flew to Cairo on my birthday. There was no first-class cabin on the plane but there was a bottle of champagne that could only be served in first-class, mistakenly in the galley. The steward said he could do nothing with it, so gave it to me a birthday present.
Today for no other reason than we are on our own and it is today, we decided to open it…..

Well I just crawled outta bed… Actually had a nice evening with the family... Bummed that I have to get up at 5am tomorrow but we'll live...
So happy to leave behind this absolute piece of shit year that was 2019 for me and my family... Way happy to start 2020 with a good beer, and lots of love to all y'all out there!..
(And why didn't I think of buying a bottle of the bubblies for today... Totally craving some good 'seco...)

@neph93 we're about 40 or 50 km away from the nearest fire, and they don't seem to be spreading this way. I'm not too worried, but I am keeping an eye on the websites.
And if they get closer I'll have to repaint the house so it matches the orange, red, or black skies. :o
The worst thing is the smoke. I'm asthmatic and it's disagreeing with me.

The photo of @Giles fly over on the Crafts thread reminded me of this article on my grandfather from this past summer. He's a custom rod builder who also repairs rods and ties flies.
His workshop looks like something out of a movie.

Thanks @motojobobo. He has an endless wealth of great hunting and fishing stories.
One of my favorites was from maybe ten years ago. He was out hunting alone somewhere in the middle of nowhere Eastern Washington. He had a heart attack. Crawled to the person's house whose land he was hunting on (he's befriended just about everyone in the area so there a ton of ranches that are private land with owners who allow him to hunt it) and had them call 911. He was medevaced out. My grandma made him get his first cell phone after that. He's 86 now and still goes out hunting alone. Animal.

I'm sure we all saw some of the Selvedge Run photos with FW teasers the past few days. Really excited to see there is another check pattern similar to the SNO from this past season but in black/yellow (might be indigo/yellow).
