@adelorenzo hey, it is casual Friday after all. Pleased for you…. if you ever feel inclined, post a fit pic. I've always been tempted by these but it is rare to see them in the wild.

If you don't mind me asking, why do you have trouble with jeans fits?

I share @neph93 's fascination and trepidation: I want to try but have trouble imagining the in the wild look.  Can we ask: how tall is Sam?  Does that matter?  Maybe the iH Swamis can offer more wisdom?  Also, just so @adelorenzo can feel the sympatico, wearing IH jeans with an OCBD and a blazer is my usual University professor look.  I can get away with it nowadays because I'm also older than dirt, act crazier than a loon, and everyone leaves me alone as the resident eccentric.  Not sure that helps.

It does matter. The waist/inseam/taper ratio is fairly important when it comes to silhouette. Tall guys with a with a long inseam look pretty great in 634’s. Shorter, heavy set gentlemen, not so much.

Thanks for all of the vitals, that link really helps, @Giles. I should have known that.  You fellas are all the pretty tall and handsome sorts.  I have some years on you too.

I'm pretty sure that other cuts do look better on me than 634s and while I've never thought of myself as "heavy set", that is likely a better description of these…"golden years."  Gravity and genetics are further conspiring to make me look even shorter.  As for how I look, well, I only see other human beings twice a week.  (<---Actually true.  My "social" life consists of walking in our woods.)  The weather in western New York is like the north of Scotland only wetter, colder, and about as dark.  Perfect for layering IH.

I may yet try The Boss's Cut here.

                Hey Everyone,

I have a terrible time fitting pants because I'm tall (6-6), fairly small waist (33) and I've been a cyclist all my life so I have really big thighs and glutes. Almost any pants I buy off the rack (that are supposed to be non-slim fitting) I have to size up 2 or more inches in the waist and then have them taken in.

Fortunately for me the 1955 cut pretty much checks all those boxes with the high rise and roomy cut. The 33 tag size is a bit loose in the waist but nothing a belt can't take care of

I'm not great at taking fit pics but here's a few from earlier today. I'm never taking these jeans off BTW.

@adelorenzo - great fitting jeans buddy. After reading about your continuous struggles with ill fitting denim pants I feel your joy and satisfaction at finding the IH 1955S cut. Happy days  🙂

@adelorenzo thanks very much for taking the time. Great pics and a wonderfully fitted pair of jeans. They look great.

Given your body shape and size I can recommend the 888 cut too. I believe you will find it equally satisfying as the 1955. It has a high rise, a full top block but a more modern tapered silhouette than the 1955. The best thing is the waist/thigh measurement ratio which works very well for those of us with som chunk in the thighs.

That is an interesting point. I’ve noticed several pics of gentlemen in 634s where the cut looks generous. I wear them particularly for the hem over engineer boots. At 5’11”  i don’t feel they look baggy at all. Maybe just a hair loose in the knee.

I’m 5’ 11’ but my inseam is very short (31”) for my height and I take a tagged 34 or 35. I really like the top block of the 634, and like using them over my big bump toe Boss, but generally they look a little flappy on me and make me look stumpy. Not so gents with a smaller waist/longer inseam.

The 888 was the other one I looked closely at. In my case what pushed me towards the 1955 was the slightly wider knee (big calves) and the slightly higher rise. Will have to keep watch, if something epic comes out in the 888 I'd definitely give it a shot.

After buying both the 634-XHS and the 888-XHSib at more or less the exact same time, I agree with everything @neph93 says in the above post. I am roughly the same legs as his, and I prefer the fit and look of the 888’s to the 634’s, which once hemmed down reminds me of my favourite skater jeans in the mid-90’s. Lol. They are still super comfy, so I’ll still be wearing them for working on the truck and bummin’ around the house a lot though. The 1955 fit is likely my next choice, but I haven’t tried them on, and I’m still getting used to high rise jeans in general, so I’m hesitant.

I’m tempted to try the 1955 myself, but I do like a trim thigh and I’d have to size down a lot to get that on this cut. The 888 works fine sized down one in that respect and I really don’t need to leave that cut ever.

That being said, every fit pic I’ve seen with this jean looks brilliant.

Here are some pics of 1955. They are about 4 years old. Sent them off to get repaired before they got totally trashed. These are my favorite pair, fit is amazing…just scoped the OD pair as well.  Hope some more folks decided to pull the trigger on this cut.  Amazingly, underrated in my opinion.
Bonus fit pic from my trip to Japan this Nov(the last time these were active)

ps, sorry for the blurry photo of the back side its the best I had and the jeans are back at IH being fixed as we speak.
