We have five pieces of Briggs and Riley gear, including three suitcases. They’re fantastic

Yeah, a pelican case does scream “expensive contents” though

          @Snowy:

@Anesthetist do you travel with it much as checked luggage? I've looked at Rimowa a few times but can only seem to find horror stories with them in checked luggage. I've done around 60-70 international legs/trips over the last few years with my Briggs and Riley and it's still looking like the day I purchased it in 2012, which is great, but I am expecting at some point it'll have it's last day and the warranty isn't great from Australia, so will need a plan b. I like the idea of Rimowa, but practically from what I've read I can't find any reviews that say a Rimowa can hold up to that level of international checked abuse. Thoughts?

@Snowy @Anesthetist One of my friends swears by her polycarbonate one, I think she said the material is the same used in motorcycle helmets, and she claimed it is more durable than the Al, which is feasible.

But the aluminum looks so damn cool…

          Think it, be it.

I travel a lot.  I use these, I have all 3 sizes, waterproof, stuffable into odd-shaped places and relatively light.  When I am up against the luggage allowance stops which I often am when fishing or diving, wasted weight on a heavy container is not something I can afford to do.  They don't cost the earth either, so when one does fail (no signs of that happening anytime soon), then it's not a fiscal nightmare to replace…Oh, and the oversized wheels are useful in rough terrain...

Love that style of waterproof, rollable duffle, particularly with shoulder straps. If you're going over, say, cobblestone, or running up stairs, it's so nice to be able to comfortably shoulder a bag.

I already said it, it doesnt get better then the Ortliebs, I´m traveling by train/plain/car through europe with the Duffle RG and the Velocity in black and both never let me done reagardless of the weather.
The Weight Point is a big one for me too, I planned on traveling with a Peli Case but those are insanly heavy so I basicly flipped it and went with little Pelis for sensible things inside the soft Ortlieb Bags instead of Soft Bags inside the Big Peli, that safes a ton of weight.

Funnily enough, that is exactly what I do.  My precious pieces go in small Peli's which get chucked in the Ortliebs…

Any love for Bennett Winch bags (https://www.bennettwinch.com/) here? I just received the leather commuter bag to go with a canvas weekender I already had and love. I use the weekender primarily for trips where I'll be driving vs. flying and wanted a smaller size for plane travel (when I won't be bringing a backpack).

Sounds like it might be best to keep away from Rimowa for checked these days, thanks for the details Ane. Great to know yours are holding up well. Giles, thanks for the comments, bookmarked for future. The B&R has well and truly exceeded my expectations, who knows may go back for another when this one has had enough. The ROI on it's been great!

Has anyone ordered cheap Filson duffle from Ebay? Knockoff, factory second or real deal?

I see no reason not to trust the seller. They have 100% feedback and accept returns (with a restocking fee). When in doubt, contact the seller and ask questions.

Thanks for the answer. I noticed there is a return possibility, but since I will order it to our hotel when visiting in states I prefer not to have any hassle.

Replying for myself. Ordered one and seems to be legit and not factory second. So beautiful.

Just got this Herz weekender/Boston bag for Christmas from my wife.  Ive wanted this one for a while and I'm not disappointed. Herz seems like a pretty great company. Each bag is made to order and all done by an individual worker. They don't ship outside of Japan so I had to get it shipped to Canada by a shipping company (I use White Rabbit Express) here are a couple photos.

                                    Hi neph93,
I'm not sure how I found them. I think I was probably working one of my night shifts and just browsing internet on my break.  Searching for "Japanese leather bags" the site was a little tough to navigate but they have a ton of nice stuff.

Yes it's great quality in my opinion. I'm no expert but it looks better than any "luxury brand" I see and is a little unique too. I really like the hard latigo leather too. Thanks for checking it out.

Quite easily carried in a Triple Aught packable, waterproof X-Pac duffle that is quite compact

Perhaps not as fun as my Acronym bags, but it's hard to beat this setup for brief trips that don't involve suits.
