Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?

How about a slightly longer 2526J jacket? The 2526PJ, maybe? I love the 2526J but it sometimes looks a bit too short over, say a work shirt. I don't own this jacket but I have noticed that on the fit guide the length does seem awfully short especially considering it's a modified type III. It's prevented me from copping one.

Understanding it's "modified," that is kinda the classic Type III look–short enough to be able to ride a horse or a bike without it getting caught up in your legs, which means even a T shirt will poke out below it. I think you have to be careful lengthening the pattern cos it can ruin the aesthetic if it is too long.

18oz IHJ-60 with a hood, like the IHJ-80 mountain parka (which is perfect on many levels)?

I think you have to be careful lengthening the pattern cos it can ruin the aesthetic if it is too long. It seems like the only jacket that hasn't been lengthened. I mean, if the 526J, the classic type III denim jacket got lengthened, why not this one? It's a whole inch shorter than every other type III. I get the aesthetic of it but I think most would prefer it be lengthened. Not by a lot, 1-1.5" would be perfect.

I’d like a re-run of the hooded deck jacket. Not the long coat, the regular length. In black, navy, or indigo. Or really any color but khaki, lol Wow I forgot about that one. That would be worthy

Right, but like @Paul9221 mentioned, for whatever reason this modified type III is significantly shorter than any other IH modified type III made by IH by a good 1-1.5"….at least in an XL anyways. So to me this one has the classic standard type III length and really shouldn't be classified as a modified.

The "modified" designation is not strictly about length. A true type III would not have hand warmers. The 2526J has them.

Of course…handwarmer pockets obviously make it modified as well so maybe I should have worded that differently to be more specific. What I'm saying is the length is more along the lines of a classic type III and not that of an IH modified type III.

Often, the additional length goes hand-in-hand with the addition of the hand warmers. Which makes the length of the 2526J a bit of an outlier. An odd "duck", if you will.

It's obviously a great jacket. But, as stupid as it may sound, I would buy it again if they lengthened it – that extra length would mean I would wear it more frequently. Like I mentioned to in the original post, at this length, it works fine over a T-shirt but looks like a little kid's jacket over a UHF or any normal length sweater. And that's what I love about type IIIs, you can wear them over a T or layer them with almost anything; so practical!

Also with a zippered front.

Has IH ever released a serge type III? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Has IH ever released a serge type III? Nope. It’s a nice idea, as long as it was something other than indigo. But the IHJ-69/70’s fill that gap I think. Especially now the one is in continuous production.

I'd love to see a UHF in this gold/black colourway:

That does look really good! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed! I third that.

Moleskin jeans in a 888 cut, using a substantial fabric that seems to be missing in the market.
R.M.Williams once did a decent pair of “Riders” in a heavy stiff Moleskin, but now only offer a lightweight cotton drill.
