If he hadn’t already purchased the 634XHSib,then it would be a different story. Would you advise him not to buy them in this scenario?

Buying another pair of XHSib was pretty much mandatory. Hence my dilemma. Also @Eisenherz the 634 is much more suited for a big cuff. That's what I did with my 633 and it leads to a kind of bell shaped cuff and pucker at the top of the cuff.

Edit: the 634 is not as tapered and looks nicer with a big cuff…

Well I decided to go ahead and wear them. I'm not going to bother soaking them or anything. Reason being the waist on the 634 is almost 1.5 inches smaller than the 633 in the same tagged size. But the rise and thighs are virtually the same. Which is great for me because the waist on the 633s is a little too big.

Sticking with the good thing is worth it in the long run, it’s all about a deeper understanding. Swapping between one thing and another leads to insignificent, superficial pleasures. And probably herpes. Apparently.

Mr. Padmore is correct, on a clear day you can look over Vestfjørden and see the Lofoten Archipelago from my town. Henningsvær is a particularly lovely old fishing village at the northern end of the archipelago.

To get there you almost have to come via Bodø, where I live. From my town you can fly (30min), take a ferry (3hrs plus a 90min drive to Henningsvær), or take a the coastal cruiser (3 hrs from Bodø to Svolvær). There are more convoluted routes depending on what you fancy and where you’ve been.

                      Are you considering a visit?

It’s unique in many ways and quite beautiful. Been a few times myself.

How much prep goes into sourcing, dyeing and weaving aspero cotton? I think it’s such a great fabric and is what separates IH from other brands. Kinda curious why Haraki San chose aspero over regular cotton and what he would do if there ever was an aspero shortage.

It is hyper-expensive and H has tried many alternatives, he has also tried weaving with Aspero in the weft and another long-staple cotton in the warp (and vica versa ) with results that don't make us smile.  So go big or go home - 100% Aspero for us.

Thanks. If there were a shortage I’d still buy IH flannels even if they were woven with regular cotton. Were IH’s older flannels woven with long staple cotton? Or are UHF’s with aspero a recent fabric that came about 7-8 yrs ago?
