This question is probably for @Giles or @Alex Just curious as to how the pre-ordering,for the Forum Anniversary Shirt, ended up working out? Was it more work than you thought or possibly not so bad, that you might consider doing it again for a limited or special release. I personally like/don’t mind putting $100 up front and thereby lessening the payment at the end. I also like knowing that I’ll definitely be able to get something I really want. I know you had enlightened us previously as to the pre-ordering problems, but if this went smoothly and it wasn’t a crazy amount of extra work, maybe you might consider trying it again in the future.

I'd love to pre-order items for the reasons you mentioned @Jett129. What if only "cool" people could pre-order them?  😉

What he said ^ I’d be shirtless and even less cool.

                Maybe so. Maybe not

^ Agree with this.  Maybe have it be limited to individuals who have a buying history from IH?  Or limited to individuals who have made X or more purchases from IH.  Hopefully that would cut down on anyone backing out.

I know that I will be in the minority opinion, but I think preorders would be more trouble than they’re worth, and may end up souring what were once good customer relationships. Loyalty from those of us who are going to continue to buy no matter what is already guaranteed. Preorders would be a needless complication that might lead to hurt feelings from lots of different angles. At least when it’s luck of the draw, things are transparent, and there’s no question of why someone got a product, or missed out on a product.

@Giles had mentioned many times before the complications that can arise with pre-ordering, namely, when there are sizing issues. Pre-ordering might make sense if it was a special one-off thing, like the kanreki or the 246, but for standard releases it might be more trouble than it's worth.

I meant for it just to be a special/one off kind of thing. With the Forum Anny Shirt you’re deposit was non refundable,so if people backed out they’d loose their deposit. Also in the case of the aforementioned shirt we were presented,up front, with measurements for all sizes,so you had a pretty good idea as to wether or not the shirt would work for you. I think it also takes some of the guessing out of the equation for IH of how many shirts to make of every size. Recently got involved with a pre-order at Shipjohn, and it seemed pretty seamless. Which is why I made my original post.

To play devils advocate pre-orders may help with stocking.  While I appreciate a good feeding frenzy it might also be nice to saunter over to the site at your convenience and buy the UHF you had pre-ordered rather scheduling a browser refresh session on the release date.

But, I also agree tracking deposits would be a hassle and most likely an unnecessary administrative burden if done on a regular basis rather than for special releases.

Questions on rotation: Do you fade one pair of jeans at a time, as in wearing them everyday until a desired fade result? Or do you have more than one pair in a rotation? If so, how many do you rotate?

Flexibility is key. For instance, this is the last month of the DWC2, so I am going to go all day everyday until Nov. 1, with a wash every week.

When new, I like to dedicate some time to properly set the creases to fit my body. I feel a concentrated attention span is necessary to get the creases to figure out where they need to be.

During adolescence, I can rotate without consequence and sometimes pairs sit for months before I wear them again. There is no consequence in terms of evolution, because once the creases are set, they can pick up where they left off whenever you get back to them, provided care is taken in storing them.

So it goes both ways, sometimes all day everyday, sometimes not. Always fresh…

Personally, I have a "stable of denim." Right now, I have a 25oz for those days where it might be cold or I'm doing heavy work. (I.E. I don't wear them often  :D) I have a "lightweight" pair for everyday use. Those are comfortable and are my "every day" jeans. They are also the only non-Iron Heart pair I'm wearing, too. It's a brand called Ooe Yofukuten. Side note, it's the only brand I'd recommend other than IH.  I also have a pair of ducks and an overdyed pair for those days where I need/want black jeans. Whenever a pair gets "worn out," I will take them out of the rotation and wear them more sparingly. Hope that answers your question.
