I'm just messing with you.  I know what you mean.  Considering most of the people on here I feel are taller than me (or at least that's how it feels), I'm surprised that the shirts aren't longer, but then again, I get the same length from 3Sixteen, Self Edge, and Freenote Cloth shirts, so maybe the shortness is done on purpose, like in the case of a type III jacket.

I know, I know - That photo you posted was hideous by the way 😃

You're right, I've also noticed that some other Japanese brands tend to make the length of their T-Shirts shorter. Perhaps it's some type of style that I have no idea about. It'd be interesting to know if the IHTs actually sell well enough. If not, some tweaks here and there could make it a bit more popular. Win-win I'd say ::)

The IHT-1610 and its printed iterations sell well. The more traditional 7.5oz do ok in the west but have been cut like they are for years with the exception of some small variations in length. They are perhaps more popular in Japan.

The problem with the idea of tweaks for the western market is that the tee’s have always been a core product in Japan. You’d either have to introduce the new cut in both markets (risky) or you start making a western cut and Japanese cut (with no idea about sales of the new western cut and the increased overheads to tackle).

I have heard rumours of possible future changes in the way IH do tees however. New models, new lines etc. We’ll have to wait and see what happens next.

Thanks Reuben, for the detailed insight. I was going with a somewhat identical logic regarding the IHTs having such a short length since I've seen multiple Japanese Instagram users with a rather short T-Shirt. Seems to be very popular there indeed.

I think it'd be worth trying out a new cut in that case, specifically meant for the western market as I feel like the sales could significantly rise if the T-Shirts were tweaked in those areas. However, as you mentioned already, it remains to be a big question mark and a risk.

Very excited about the further iterations of the IHT series. Hopefully it won't just be the printed tees that will get an update but also the classic ones. I don't quite fancy the printed tees for everyday-casual purposes.

I suspect the «clean» variant of an eventual new tee would be an ever-present basic, with printed versions coming later, much in the same way as the IHT-1700/1800/1900 (as well as other iterations) all use the IHT-1610 base.

I remember the new T cut will have more fitted sleeves which should be pretty nice. Personally I love the IH Ts although I thought they would be too short on me first but they drape very well and do have a great fit. I also got used to the slightly larger sleeves rather quickly and they don't worry me at all by now.

Looking very much forward to the new iterations @Giles. If they fit me right, I will make sure to donate all of my old T-Shirts to a charity and buy a few of the new IHTs to wear all the time for the next years to come 🙂

I’m sure it has been mentioned several times already, but I wish Iron Heart would come out with a 25oz denim jacket.  I’m a huge fan of my IH-666-XHS and IH-526V-XHS [emoji123].  I’ve asked in the past, and was always told that “it is too heavy to do the stitching for the sleeves”, but I have 25oz jackets from other companies, like my Samurai S551XX25OZ-20TH Anniversary Type I.  There is without a doubt a market here.  Maybe even do a test run with pre-orders only and eliminate all risk [emoji2369].

Take it a step further….... add the ultra heavy flannel material as a liner, and a custom Good Art Pocket Snap.  I will throw all my money at you [emoji1787][emoji119][emoji158]

It may not work for some reason, but if the sleeves are difficult in that weight, perhaps the body could be 25oz and the sleeves 21oz. It kind of makes sense actually since your trunk is generally what you're trying to keep more warm (which is why vests are a thing).

                                Think it, be it.

I think people, myself included, would loose their minds over an XHSib Type III. I think that it’s been stated that the problem is sewing the sleeves to the body of the jacket. Someone correct me if I’m wrong about this.

Iron Heart is doing Heavy Weights better than anyone else in the business.  It isn’t like we are talking about something that has never been done, we are asking for a product that is already being made by lesser companies.

I think the above is exactly tje point. Haraki won’t do a thing just because it is possible or because others are doing it. It has to meet his standards of quality and construction.

As an example, N&F do 32oz denim but H won’t because heavy on its own isn’t the point. Practical performance and comfort would be compromised too much in his opinion. He wove the XHS to be heavy and functional.

@Paul9221 The 25oz is a very different beast to the SE 23oz. It isn’t just about weight but also construction. The thickness of the XHS already creates very chunky seams. Double those at the shoulder and you have an issue.

All that being said, never say never. The guy is an innovator and may well engineer a solution he is happy with in the future.
