Gonna be hanging a tv myself in the next couple of days. Hopefully, mine will look as nice.

That's a very cozy setup Doc!
Brandi wants our living room more minimalist, which means hanging the TV and getting rid of the TV stand, which also houses a receiver and center channel. I have old Paradigm mains and center up front with a sub, and I love the way they sound, even if we don't listen to them much (usually Sonos–we have one in the living room). If we go this route, we would probably ditch all of that and get a Sonos soundbar. While I love the idea of a cleaner look, less stuff to dust, and a bit more space, I would miss the old speakers and I don't have anywhere else to put them, since the rest of the house is riddled with Sonos. If we stick with the Paradigms, I will likely get a Sonos-capable Onkyo receiver and move the living room Sonos into a bathroom for shower music, or heck maybe pair it as a rear 5.2 channel. Then I could enjoy the convenience of Sonos with the sound of vintage Paradigms.

Thanks everyone!
@mclaincausey they make all sort of mountable shelves. Don't know if that would work and/or appease the wife, but there options out there for sure. This definitely cleaned things up visually for us and while the wires are showing more than they did with the previous set up, its a small price to pay

Sonos have recently launched a minimalist amplifier, which can be paired for front and rear channels. Maybe one of those driving the front speakers, a sub, and a couple of Play 1s if you want surround.
Good call, need to include that in the options. I think I recall around $600 for that.

Original mid century Sputnik lights. My older brother recovered these from a shopping mall in LA. I figured that @Chris and @Anesthetist would appreciate them.

Nice buy Graeme! Might clash with that Wegner fruit bowl though. I think you should send it my way….[emoji6]

You're right- I like that a lot. Your brother has enviable scavenging skills.

Sonos also have a Zoneplayer with Line or Optical outs only.. Keep your receiver and speakers !

Btw I witnessed the most Italian thing ever today… My parents bought an Italian reading light in some fancy design store in my street... Went and picked it up with me mom... It was beautifully wrapped in a wooden box and it came with... a pair of white gloves to wear whilst installing it

That’s hilarious. Italian Americans (which I am 1/2) would
Just get tomato sauce (aka marinara aka gravy) all
Over the white gloves and the lamp. They shipped the dirtiest ones here to America. -
I dig that clock.
I used to have a flip card clock when I was a kid, but at some point it broke. I took it apart to see how it worked. Mom was not happy to find dozens of those little cards scattered all over my room after I lost interest and started flinging them around like frisbees.
