Loving this band at the moment …

And if you miss Motorhead, fear not…French band Iron Bastards are shameless fans! Super nice dudes too

If you dive into their music a little, you'll find a lot of themes of fantasy and sci-fi. They're very technical and I would even consider some of their members to be virtuosos, but they also have a certain whimsical storytelling style that one can lost in. 2112, Farewell to Kings, and Hemispheres are three albums that cross into that territory.

@emceeQ 3 absolutely Stella selections there.i know and love Jessica Pratt and know mono, but wasn't familiar wit Weakened Friends. 90s influence x Portland = what's not to love!

@emceeQ 3 of my favourites from last year:
Tess Parks and Anton Newcombe. A match made in heaven:
Emma Ruth Rundle. I only discovered her back catalogue and work wit Mariages midway through last year, but her output has been a favourite since. Chelsea Wolfe is the media darling (I love her too). But Emma is the real deal:
Dirty Friends came out of nowhere for me. Really enjoyed this album, and what a Stella 'supergroup' Corin Tucker, Kurt Bloch, Peter Buck, Scoot McCaughey, and William Rieflin…seriously, so many unsung Seattle and indie legends:

@Stuart.T Long time fan of Emma Ruth Rundle. Saw Marriages when they toured with Deafheaven in 2013 was blown away. On Dark Horses was definitely a standout from last year. She is touring with Thou in a few months and the show near by me is going to be a collaborative set. Can't wait to see it…
Gonna dig deeper into the Tess Parks & Anton Newcombe and Filthy Friends records later tonight. Both are right up my alley...

don’t understand The Rush connection at all.
If you don't see a connection Rush here, I don't know what to tell ya. When I first heard this, my first thought was how much it reminded me of the whimsy of Rush.
. When I first saw this post,for some reason,the video wasn’t there. This sounds,totally,like Rush. -
If you're looking for something laid back.

You owe it to yourself to listen to this. Trust me, it is awesome.

Not only is the band fantastic. Paul Kearns is one of the best vocalists I've heard. He actually sings in an epic doom metal band and doesn't sound like Ozzy or Danzig.
