One other thing to keep in mind is that you may have a hard time keeping the leather lined up properly on the jeans while you're trying to sew it.  In this case you may want to get some contact cement (glue) from the leather supply store and put a thin bead on the top and bottom of the leather patch.  This will help keep the patch stay put while you're sewing.

If you're going to a leather supply store like Tandy I'm sure you can just explain what you're trying to do to them and they can get you everything you need.

      Good luck!

Yes, I didn‘t get the thread tangfj recommended, so I used a thicker one I already had lying around in my drawer.
Thanks to IHUK too for helping me out with a spare patch.

Good work. Great when we learn new skills to fix these things ourselves…

Question for the IH crew… I’m getting some pretty annoying diaper ass with my 666-PD’s. Is this something that would be fixed by downsizing the top block? Railcar offers this service, and it would definitely be money well spent if it worked. They are the same size as my 666S-21’s and my 666S-16’s, but they measure bigger across the hips than the other two pairs that fit fine so in my mind that must be the problem. Here’s some pics so you can see what I’m talking about:

                              That's a real diaper butt…...

I'd certainly have a word with Railcar....

To me it just looks like you need to pull your pants up.  Have you tried wearing them higher on your waist?

Yeah, I've had the same problem with my 777R-14 and 634S-18. It seems to be a common problem. I'm still trying to find the right fit that won't give me that same issue and I've nearly tried almost all cuts, sizes and fits.

A few years of daily use with a heavy chain has taken it’s toll on the leather loop on my IHG-02. It is still intact but won’t be forever.

In addition I wanted to max out my brass so I modded the wallet with a hole punch and a shiny new brass swivel and Chicago screw. The silver ring will likely end up on a necklace at some point in the near future…

I was a little apprehensive about sticking holes in an expensive shell cordovan wallet but it was an easy fix and I’m pleased with the result.

I agree that brass works very well and is aesthetically more pleasing than silver, with the burgundy cordovan. This despite the fact that silver seems more appropriate given the qualities of materials involved.

I used to strive to keep my hardware one colour but I’ve given up. I love my silver GA and IH gear, and brass and tan leather together is great beautiful, so I mix it and no longer give a fekk.
