Ok, fellers, I sized up on my last 2 UHF purchases to an xl. Tonight i'm planning on washing one of them to try and get some shrink out of it. Any advice? I was thinking of doing a warm wash/hang dry first with some woolite dark to see what results I get. Or should I do a hot wash/hang dry instead?

If it just says warm or hot on your machine I’d certainly do a warm one first. If you can dial in temps then I’d say do a 50C wash and see how things fit, then up it to 60C if you need more. Fully support the hang dry although a tumble dry will get you more shrinkage.

The washing machine only gives me the options of cold/warm/hot. Thanks though. I think a warm wash is a safe bet

Obviously not all our tax bill goes on evils like healthcare, education and maternity leave. Some of it must go on good old R & D for washing machines. My machine can be set from 30-90C in increments of 10C and from 400rpm to 1600rpm in increments of 100. It makes a super dry martini to order, speaks Hindi and sings that vocal solo from «Great Gig In The Sky» too.

Or washing machine plays a little tune when finished. I kid you not!
I had to dig through the manual for a while to switch that off.

I can vary pretty much any aspect of the program, from temp, spin speed, No of rinses, anti-crease.

                        Pointless really!

Forgive me if this has been asked before but do you guys and gals ever have geek out moments when you see someone in your town wearing IH? Statistically, the chances of me seeing someone here wearing IH is probably 0% but I’m sure if I did I’d say something like, “hey, nice shirt,” or something silly. [emoji851][emoji868]

Has never happened to me yet, despite living in two of the ten largest cities in America. The only times I've ever seen anyone wearing IH was at an event, or when I wandered into a Self Edge.

I used to see IH in the wild sometimes in SF.  One time, I waited on a guy at my restaurant here who had on IH jeans.  He was going to some sort of tech conference in Charlotte, and had heard that Asheville was nice to visit.

It was a "great idea", and we all know how those typically turn out…..

Likely, my disdain for the process and results is due to my less-than-stellar adherence to methods/protocol, and habitual corner cutting... because there are some great examples of DIY waxed jackets out there (Modern and vintage), but mine DID NOT turn out like that, lol! I ended up, after HOURS spent waxing over 2-3 days, just putting it in the clothes dryer on HIGH and melting out the wax. It was splotchy/patchy, greasy, and it held on to dog hair and lint more than a wool sweater, which particularly sucks, because it's lined with alpaca.....
