Keep in mind that I used a bar of Otter Wax on my already waxed Gustin trucker jacket, which is significantly cheaper than BR or IH. I'm sure there are some people out there that have had success waxing their jackets with Otter Wax but I personally wouldn't do it on an expensive piece. Mine turned out really sh*tty. Even though I used a heat gun a lot of the wax didn't melt as well as I would've liked, especially in the seams of the jacket, so there's wax residue on areas of my jacket. I know some people use melted wax and 'paint' it on to get better distribution/penetration. I'd check youtube. There might be other alternatives to Otter Wax.

I’ll chip in with this, unless the jacket is canvas/duck I’d certainly leave well alone. Duck is a 1x1 weave that gives a relatively flat surface. The wax does well on this.  Whipcord and the like is a twill weave that gives a uniform patterned surface. Getting an even layer of wax on it is a non-starter.

+1 here…I had a pretty bad experience waxing my LC King chore jacket (which was duck). I watched a few videos online and they made it look so easy.

I ended up pretty much ruining my chore jacket and wasted a bunch of time trying to wax and then fix. Its something I guess I will leave to the professionals  😃

I've waxed a coupe of jackets over the years, both plain weave and twill, and they've turned out ok.  I use a blend of about 80% paraffin, 20% beeswax that I mixed myself; I don't know what Otter Wax is made with, or how much of a difference it makes.

I would say that you shouldn't try it unless you're willing to take a total loss if/when things fail.

T-shirt or button up? I’m wearing a raglan baseball tee today and it has an unfinished hem, or whatever you call it, and it curls up. So yes, it’s irritating

. Bugs me when it happens on CPO shirts. I end up ironing it and it’s OK for awhile.

I've wondered about that myself.  All I know is that there's something about twill weave fabric that causes it.  The plain weave shirts seem to do it much less, or not at all.  Why that is, I don't know.  We need some sort of textile specialist to answer questions like these.

                        Button ups.

Mostly notice on denim shirts. Lined ones don’t seem to get it as much.

It did when I first noticed it. I now minimise it by smoothing it down while still wet and have since learnt to embrace it. On indigo shirts it is where the fat roping and associated fading happens so that makes up for it. I assume you’re thinking about your wabash CPO @spitfiredealer?

Edit: I always assumed it had something to do with chainstitching.

I had always assumed the “hem flip” was due to sitting at a desk for a living, like a scarlet letter. My wabash workshirt is indeed the worst culprit, but other shirts do it too. Didn’t bother me much, bothers me even less now.

Wasn't sure if I should post this in the 666SII thread, but figured I might need to post it in a broader thread like this, so it'd get more eyes on it…

I've always thought the sit-in-the-tub-with-a-pair-of-jeans idea was a little bit outlandish (if not just a pain in the ass), but I wonder if it might work in this situation.

I have a pair of 666SII that were going great until I decided to wash them. Midway through the wash cycle, I paused the washer and opened it up to make sure the jeans weren't too wadded up, only to realize that the water was SUPER hot. Turns out when the guys installed my washer (YEARS ago), they'd switched the hot and cold hoses. So yep, instead of the cold cycle, I'd been washing my stuff in pure hot water for quite a while. Great.

Anyway, the 666SIIs naturally shrank a bit from the hot wash. They're still wearable, albeit a bit too tight in the waist. I could've gained weight, but I wouldn't think that much... I generally fluctuate between 190 and 195, and nothing's ventured out of that range lately. Regardless, I've worn them quite a bit since the hot wash and they're still tight.

My thought was maybe to do the tub soak thing and see if she shape of my waist could stretch the jeans out while wet. Couldn't hurt, right? Any other thoughts?

If the remainder fit to your liking. Soak just the waist and put em on while “damp”. Should assist with relaxing the waist.

Another option is just wear em. They should stretch as a stress point.
