So I finally got done reading through this thread and the 888-NT one, and I'm left with a question…

How come the UHF, which seems to be a very well-regarded fabric, is being discontinued?  Is it because it's too hard on the loom, or too niche to be produced indefinitely... or both?  If it's just because it's a loom-buster, then why is the 25oz still being made?  Is the UHR more loom-destructive than the purportedly heavier XHS... maybe because the UHF is 'lighter', but also still 'tougher'?

...and that was more than 'a' question, but they're all inexorably linked *^_^

                        Just curious!

@nurunuru This is from a post Giles made some time ago about UHR . . .
“” It’s time to say goodbye to an old and faithful friend.  This denim was a brute to wear when new and a bitch to tame.  But if you persevered and got it right, the fades it gave were spectacular.

UHR denim engendered love like no other.

But the stuff broke too many looms “”

Thank you! It was the loom busting, then. I guess the 25oz is just easier on them.

The difficulty of weaving denim is not just a function of weight, the 25oz is heavier than the UHR, fact not fiction. The UHR is harder to weave than the 25oz for a number of reasons.  The UHR is a magical denim, but quite specialist, we sell loads more 25oz, so that is a factor too.

I fekked my knee and had to wear a leg brace for a few months after picking these up so they've seen very little action (about five wears).

After the leg brace went I've been very unsure about them. The denim is fantastic, the cut is theoretically brilliant, and these fit me in the waist as they should, but I'm not sure how I feel about them on me.

I suspect the problem is that 1. They haven't settled and 2. It's a very different cut to what I'm used to. Not fishing for compliments, but honest opinions are welcome…

Lower leg looks good.  Upper leg looks a bit wide.

Top block is hard to see due to shadows.  The width looks ok.  I'm not a fan of high rise, but that's a personal preference.

My opinion is, FWIW, at the height you have them cuffed, they're a little too tapered for the boot shaft.

I know the 3-roll cuff is your look, but have you tried letting down 1 or 2 rolls and see how they look more relaxed and stacked on your boots?
