Maybe this should go in unpopular opinions. Superhero movies have ruined the film industry over the past two decades. "Here's the plot; good guy has to stop bad guy. Now let's use a fancy computer to layer a bunch of special effects over the top of it all".
It's kind of like autotuning in music. "You're pretty but you can't sing? Don't worry we can fix that."

^ I’m with you. The first Avengers movie was bearable because of Joss Whedon’s sense of humour. Very occasionally I’ll watch one on Netflix (the second Thor film about two years ago was the last time it happened) if I’m utterly lost for something to do. I always end up thinking it was a poor decision and a waste of two hours.

^^ yep, with both of you on this as well. From day one I've never liked big blockbuster special effects ridden movies made for the mindless ADD masses…..no offense to anyone

Superhero films have their place but yes, the industry is saturated with them. I'd rather watch a lower budget film with strong characters and a good story over a cgi sh*tfest any day of the week.

I'm totally fine with mindless crap. I watch movies to turn my mind off for a couple of hours. Explosions, unbelievable plots and CGI fakery work just fine for me.That's why I giggle like a school girl each time a new Fast and Furious movie comes out.

Almost went to see Deadpool 2 today, but decided not to. Saw the first one again a few weeks ago - think I'm burnt out on Ryan Reynolds humour at the moment.

I'm with Chris. If I wanted intellectual stimulation I wouldn't go to the movies. I have to think and be creative all day at work. Sometimes you just need to watch people get shot and blown up.
Agreed. xXx: Return of Xander Cage was one of my favorite movies to come out last year. Vin Diesel drives a motorbike on the ocean. It's frickin awesome…
