Black Panther was pretty enjoyable. You should definitely check it out.
-
I’ll wait for the rental at this point.

Fair enough. Saw Avengers Infinity War again today. Interested to see where the next one goes, feel like I’ve missed out on some of the plot points by not seeing Black Panther.

I think there are what, 7 books total in the Gunslinger series? They basically omitted virtually all of it except Jake, Roland, The Dark Man and the Tower. This should've been a franchise film with sequels, like The Lord of the Rings imo, but the director took short cuts and turned it into one giant sh*tfest.

Game night was funny.
Red sparrow was lame
Black panther was also good

I enjoyed it, but it would have been better if it were about 15 minutes shorter. And it did not have the most airtight and believable plot I've ever seen. It was fun, though.
Kinda like Thor: Ragnarok. Or any Marvel movie, for that matter…

I watched Dangal a couple of days ago, on a flight from Melbourne to LA. It's based on the true story of a former Indian wrestler who raises his daughters to compete. I missed it when it was on general release, but enjoyed it.
One thing that caught a lot of people's attention was the transformation that the actor Aamir Khan underwent to play his character as an out-of-shape older man, and a competitive wrestler in his twenties.

Hmmm. I actually found Ragnarok far more entertaining. But, again, I'll probably watch BP again over the weekend and then reassess.

Maybe this should go in unpopular opinions. Superhero movies have ruined the film industry over the past two decades. "Here's the plot; good guy has to stop bad guy. Now let's use a fancy computer to layer a bunch of special effects over the top of it all".
It's kind of like autotuning in music. "You're pretty but you can't sing? Don't worry we can fix that."

^ I’m with you. The first Avengers movie was bearable because of Joss Whedon’s sense of humour. Very occasionally I’ll watch one on Netflix (the second Thor film about two years ago was the last time it happened) if I’m utterly lost for something to do. I always end up thinking it was a poor decision and a waste of two hours.

^^ yep, with both of you on this as well. From day one I've never liked big blockbuster special effects ridden movies made for the mindless ADD masses…..no offense to anyone
-
Superhero films have their place but yes, the industry is saturated with them. I'd rather watch a lower budget film with strong characters and a good story over a cgi sh*tfest any day of the week.
-
Screw you guys.
I'm totally fine with mindless crap. I watch movies to turn my mind off for a couple of hours. Explosions, unbelievable plots and CGI fakery work just fine for me.
That's why I giggle like a school girl each time a new Fast and Furious movie comes out.
EDIT: and to answer your question, Doug-
Oh. My. God. YES. -
Fair point.
Dick.

Almost went to see Deadpool 2 today, but decided not to. Saw the first one again a few weeks ago - think I'm burnt out on Ryan Reynolds humour at the moment.
