@Matty123 and @RoxRocks86 bonding over Hawaii, construction and badass 777 fits. I love it.

Rox, are you going to taper the 21oz as well? Not suggesting you need to, they look great, but if you do I'll be interested to hear how you get on compared to working with the 14oz. My seamstress has tapered 17oz duck, done hemming on 18-21oz IH and repaired holes in 25oz. She won't hem anything over 21oz and won't taper anything over 18oz. She's a regular seamstress and dressmaker though, not a denim specialist.

@neph93 lol she must look forward to when you bring your threads in. Not sure yet about tapering due to the thicker material. Kinda liking it as is, but gonna wait till after break in to see how they stretch. Might do some testing on the cut-offs.

She actually digs the quality and the fact that I get things repaired. I have one pair of IH-555-01 she’s fixed three times.

Her problem with the heavy stuff is that her machine doesn’t like it and the needles break a lot. She says she’d have to charge me more but couldn’t guarantee the quality of her work. She’s really good otherwise and has done great work taking in shirts and vests for me.

I’ve darned both 21 and 25oz by hand before. A pair of pliers to pull the needle through saves your thumbs, but it’s doable. So doing the work by hand is a possibility.

Would you happen to know what kind of machine she uses? Makes me wonder if mines can handle the 21 oz. Can’t imagine sewing anything unless it’s minor repairs by hand. You must have a lot of patience haha.

Don’t have a machine and I’ve never used one, so in this case, old school is the only school. My repairs are functional but ugly and take an unreasonably long time to complete but this is Norway and skilled labour hours are expensive, so I try to cut costs and do some things myself.

I’m actually going to see Elvedina today so I’ll ask about her machines [emoji4]

Awesome that you do your own repairs! I get a kick out of seeing repair pics esp. when the jeans look trashed and shredded, but low and behold they get some tlc and boom! they’re good as new.

@Jett129 what’s her turn around time for repairs?

Wasn’t initially planning on tapering these, but messed around with the hem cut-offs and lo and behold the old sewing machine didn’t stutter twice. I forgot to smash the bulky part of the hem down with a hammer, so first one on me.

Really digging the stretchiness of the 21 oz. hugs me in the right places and isn’t restricting.

pretty dope that you taper your own denim

what measurements do you go for the leg opening and knee?

                              head high, middle finger higher

I’m definitely the wrong person to ask that question. Late last year she was sooo busy that she stopped taking repairs for about 2 months. Reach out to her for the answer to that question.

                                  Thanks @madmonday. For this pair, knees - 6 3/4”, leg opening - 6”.
