I'm hoping to get some advice on motorcycle rain gear from the forum. I'll be doing a 6 day bike ride in early april, which is still rainy season around here. I don't have much previous experience with this kind of gear, but I've had cheap garments fail on me previously, so I hope to make a better choice this time around.

I've read a bit about the Revit Pacific H2O rain suit (conflicting reviews); the BMW 3 rain suit (no independent reviews); a Dainese rain suit (didn't find any reviews).

I guess I gravitate towards a one-piece suit as most opinions seem to favor that option as generally more waterproof than two-piece rain gear.

I don't need a warm rain suit; only waterproof and high visibility.

              Thanks!

              The journey is the objective.

Most of the guys I ride with, and myself, all keep Frog Toggs in our saddlebags.(www.frogtoggs.com) Click on jackets than on the drop down menu on the side under lifestyles click on motorcycles. You basically pick out the jacket you want, then get a pair of road toads pants. Might be a little low tech but they keep you dry. In a really bad downpour hopefully you can pull over. Good luck.

Do not get one piece suit, it'äs a pain in the ass to get on your wet gear. (you know, you never stop early enogh to get your raingear on before you get wet.)

Two piece suit is fine as you can ditch the jacket if it's just wet road…

Rev'it are one of my favourite motorcycle gear companies, and have just launched the Yates. It's an armoured sweatshirt knitted from the abrasion resistant fabric that they use to line their riding jeans.

There's a blog entry and product page on their website. More details can be gleaned from Revzilla's product video.

Decided to get my old 1983 Honda XL 250 R back in working order after an 11-year freeze.

This pic is just before delivering it to the mechanic's shop. Paintwise it looks better than expected because all the red parts (tank and frame) were painted one year before I stopped using it.

I expect to begin riding offroad once again and I thought this option would be the cheapest way to find out if I'll actually do it and stick to it. If I find I enjoy those trips again, I'll then consider upgrading to a new , modern and reliable bike. I'm hoping to keep the overall expense of getting my old Honda roadworthy at less than 1000 dollars. I'll report back in a few weeks.

In my memories it was only 15:1. But in realtime it was 2 hours of riding dirt and 1 hour of mechanical work.
