Giles and Paula in Austin - Early November 2017

^it's a ford coyote v8 that's why..

A few more.
Poor Porsche, she took a real beating…..
The last pic is a sign that the team we were sharing the garage with, put up after I inadvertently turned the lights to the garage off when they were replacing the front right drive shaft and suspension mid race/max panic. No one knew what had happened, me included, so assumed we had had a power cut to the garage.... Popular was not my middle name at that particular juncture....

i really appreciate these photos, thanks G. it's nice to see first hand (well in pictures) what's going on down in the pits.
there's something about endurance racing that always seems to be so brutal. and i don't mean the reliability of the engines, but the aggressiveness of the actual race and drivers. i've seen videos when chris harris did a couple of 24hrs, 1 at silverstone and the other at nurburgring i think, and once past a certain hour, the cars all end up bruised and plastered..
-
You would absolutely love it @louisbosco , but it is massively brutal. The most used tool is a large hammer wielded with great gusto.
There is a massive sense of camaraderie, with teams sharing parts and mechanics from one team clapping other teams when the boys have done a great job of getting (what to me looks like a destroyed) car back out on the track.
The car we shared the garage with came in 10 minutes before the end of the race and the mechanics strapped the body work back on with ratchet straps and zip ties, it went back out looking like Frankenstein, but it finished the race…..

Great pictures and story line. Good luck and safe travels to you and Paula on the continuation of your journeys.

If you guys haven't seen it The 24 Hour War is a great doc. It's about the Ford vs Ferrari rivalry at Le Mans in the 60's.

did you guys give Victor sh*t for not wearing any IH clothing? Now that I think about it, when I was on IG I've never seen him wearing IH.
-
@Chap I'm going to watch that when I get a chance. Thanks
Here is the trailer to The 24 Hour War

I definitely did
I don't believe he owns any IH yet, he just loves the community and is always looking for passionate people to hang out with.

For those of you from the Austin Meet Up are interested in how the “24 hours of Lemons” race went that @formulapfaff was a part of, I figured I’d share some pics…
Definitely not anything like the COTA race that we were so lucky to have been able to experience.
Their team’s “race car” - civic sedan with a GSR Integra engine. Even the guys in the “fast” cars said this thing could haul…
Even if the radiator cap couldn’t manage to stay on and keep the engine from overheating…
Overall, their team didn’t have the best of luck thanks to quite a few penalty’s (they make you take a “time out” if you spin out (which they did often), but they managed better than their other team…
Thanks again to everyone who made Austin so much fun for us! It was great meeting everyone and finally putting voices to all the WAYWT photos [emoji4]

@louisbosco - there was a team that had a rather "professional" race ready integra and they seemed to be quite talented at driving. The team captain at a Type-R engine in his Civic Hatch that he said was his track day car - I can only imagine it was pretty quick. It's essentially the same engine thats in the 2L version of the S2000, correct?
-
@Appfaff i don't know much about honda's except it's highly rated k series which are in the type r civics and integras. the ones in the s2000 are f series if i'm not wrong. i'd assume they're different because the s2k has to be designed for RWD fitment..
-
@louisbosco - good call, and I believe you are right. My dad has an S2000 and its pretty "revvy" - even more so than the GSR F18 that the boys were putting down this weekend.
