IH-888-NT - 21/23oz indigo Selvedge DWC Jeans

Hi Mario,
They are almost identical in terms of hand (softness) and shade of indigo. The only difference is that this denim isn't as heavy, it isn't sanforized (so it shrinks) and is kind of hairier and has slightly more variations and character than the 25 oz XHS.
It remains to be seen if it will get the same kind of sheen that a pair of well-worn XHS get after wearing it for a couple months. My pair of these 888s are only 3 days old. But all signs point to yes.
I personally think this 21oz denim is amazing and I am delighted that get to wear it in the DWC for the next 2 years. I absolutely love it. Like i said in the other thread it is a work of art.

The 25oz has more vertical fade properties, the 23oz fades with greater contrast. The 25oz is more breathable than the 23, the 23 is hairier than the 25. Both soften up nicely, but I think 25 gets softest.
So what you're saying is…that I need to get both.

@Mario3309 the other thing I love about this denim is how aggressive and angular the combs are behind the knees. I can't wait to see how these look in a couple months.

So fellas, how realistic is it that I got all the shrinkage out with a 1.5 hour hot soak and a 40 deg wash without spin?
They shrank a little over 1 inch in the waist and 1.2 inches in length. Thighs maybe 0.4 inches.
That sounds about right, there may be some more but I doubt it… and if there is it'll be so little that it shouldn't impact on the fade patterns. If you only wash as 30C it won't matter anyway as you've already exposed the fabric to more than that.

Only if they've stretched to be really huge on me I'll try a 40 deg wash again although I suspect that they will stretch a lot regardless. Actually, I didn't expect this denim to stretch as much as it has.

Thanks. I am determined to keep wearing them and not revert back to my favorite overalls. I really miss them. In a month I should be able to comfortably wear the overalls over top of these. So I will be happy.
Either way I plan on thoroughly beating the shit out of these.

@Yossarian my advice is to just wear the crap out of them now until they smell. Then wash. Rituals and preparation are important and interesting but there comes a point when it’s important to remember they’re just a pair of jeans. Treat them like you hate them [emoji1417]

I was going to be a purist and wait until today to wear them… but I managed to soak and dry yesterday before work and by 3p.m. GMT I figured it must be 1st of November in Japan so I wore them to work. I think I got some shrinkage in the length and thigh, but they are very comfortable. Need to sort out the hem as I have a massive cuff. -
The 888NT got me back into IH after I've almost given up on the brand due to my thigh measurements after gaining a good 6 KGs. My thanks to Gav @Megatron1505 , @Giles and the Stubborn crew for making it happen.
I received my pair yesterday, it's a beast as expected. The pre-soak fit was promising. I've soaked and washed it but have yet to tried it on post shrink. Can't wait till I get home tonight to see how it fits now! Happy to have IH denim back on my legs soon, it's been a while..
