Money is not the issue. I would be more sympathetic if they made significantly less money than I do.
They have money, they just put it into cars, clothes, vacations, etc.
Additionally, the idea that you would use disposable income for emergency supplies is the problem. This is life saving/preserving equipment for your family. It should take top priority, especially when hurricanes are a known threat.
It's like saying "holy shit, Christmas AGAIN this year?"
I'm a little surprised that your neighbors don't prepare for these things. On the one hand, I can certainly sympathize with families that are in need of help during a weather emergency. At the same time, if you live in an area that is prone to such regular occurences then the question is, why aren't you taking steps to ensure your own survival?
With that said, I grew up in Japan where typhoons and earthquakes were a part of everyday life. But, I also lived on military bases so I think that's a little different than living in the civilian world when it comes to preparedness. My mom lives like 10 minutes from the ocean up in northern Japan and I keep telling her to move further inland or up in the mountains in case a big ass tsunami hits. She refuses to do so for whatever reason.

Really starting to dislike Southwest Airlines. Just got a text that my flight to Orlando is delayed an hour and a half. If they delay it again, I'm in real danger of missing my flight to London. This is the second time SWA has dropped a major flight delay on me in the last 6 weeks. The previous time resulted in my needing to sprint through the Memphis airport to catch the last flight of the day to Charlotte. Missing it would have meant I wouldn't be able to make it to my grandmother's funeral. I'm still a little touchy about that one. If they screw me out of Kanreki weekend, I will be angry.

That is shit @Chris , fingers and toes are also crossed for you.

I'm taking no further replies from Chris as a good sign

No news is good news, right?
I'm in Orlando, so looks like I'm still gonna make it, bitches!

It's like Cinderella, and tomorrow you shall go to the Pound Shops with the bald, bearded prince

Small woodland creatures are sewing my evening gown at this very moment.
And the way the customs line is moving, they'll have plenty of time to finish…

When I pulled up the forums this morning and saw Chris as the most recent poster in Random Rants I thought for sure he was going to say something about being stuck in Orlando.
-
Nope. Not much to rant about at the moment. I'm in lovely Portsmouth, deciding how to work my way over to the Premier Inn…

Happens with nearly every item I sell/have sold. Have had people offer $10 on something I'm selling for $40. Have counteroffered to $25 with free shipping and have had a guy counter again to $22. Felt like telling him if $3 was that important to him then I was doing him a favor by declining his offer.
I stopped responding to low ballers all together. If you're asking to pay 50% or less of what I'm reasonably listing something for then it's not even worth my time to respond.

Spent Saturday afternoon at a beer festival for Aslin's 2nd anniversary. There were about 30-40 gust breweries pouring beers. I was wearing my favorite Iron Heart ss shirt. Every time I went up for a beer they would look at my shirt and not charge for the beer. Finally one of the Brewers asked if I worked for Iron Heart. I said no just a big fan of their clothes. He was confused. Turns out Iron Heart Canning is the mobile canning company a lot of the breweries use. Learned something new and got a lot of free beers, thanks to Iron Heart.
