i pre-ordered a size 40, however i might need a 42 based on thigh measurements. if i need to up-size to a 42, will i still receive the DWC patch model?

Yes.  We make more jeans than we need (some will be patched NT and others UHR).  We over order patches and replace as need be…

I suspect that the average customer at R&H or B&S isn't the same person as the average IHUK customer.

Well, retailers were not offered the IH-888NT (Kai from Denim Manilla asked me nicely if he could have some, and as I am seeing him in Manilla in a couple of months, I thought I ought to be nice to him  )

And generally, the UHR does not sell well to retailers, I'd call it a specialist denim and really only sells to people who really know what they're getting into.

Hoping this model comes out closer to the original measurements. Tried on the 888S @ Mildblend and wound up with slightly snug thighs with a slightly loose waist.

I am hoping I get my thigh measurements of 12.7 inches without having to size up.

Just another vote for hoping the thigh measurements come in closer to at least the same as the 634S. Although it's too hot to wear pants of any sort right now where I am, I've tried on a couple of different versions of 634's that I have, and I really wouldn't want anything smaller in thighs. Higher rise + taper from above the knee? BRING IT!!!!

So after trying on the 21oz at the weekend I am having second thoughts about these. Regardless of the thigh being too tight the rise felt massive. As someone who wears his jeans low I dunno if this is the cut for me
