Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?
-
I don't know if this has been discussed here before, but I would love it if you made some kind of slim cut or variant to the 555/777 cut that had a shorter inseam than the current 36-37 inches.
My height is pretty average (5'10), but when I buy IH jeans I have to remove about 6-7 inches off the bottom (and double cuff them) if I want to avoid stacking (which I do), since most of the models are sanforised and will barely shrink.
Is that something you would consider?
-
No, sorry. We are not large enough to carry multiple inseam lengths.
We have about 60 combinations of style/denim. That's bad enough, without doubling or trebling up on what we stock.
We have to stock one inseam length and then hem to size on Unity. It's the only way it can work.

Glad I went back a few pages as I was about to suggest both of these ideas by @Filthy25ozJunkie and
@MaxPower@Max:
Is there still a Chance for Shorts this year - maybe with slightly fuller thighs?
@Filthy25ozJunkie:
How about the lougepants? What did you think?

@QuantumMechanic I don't know if you've seen/have the IHSH-64 but the fabric is intensely awesome. The face is very soft like an all cotton fleece. And the inside is like a terrycloth towel. It's so great. It is super heavy too. I think it be perfect for pants.

I feel like this is one of those suggestions (pajama pants/sweatpants/lounge pants) that has been made every few months since this thread was started, but Haraki-san never goes for it. Hope springs eternal, though. I never thought Iron Heart would make polo shirts, but here they come…
And that material in the 64 is pretty phenomenal.

I'd like to see the IHSH-21 in more colors… Emerald green is a personal favorite but I recognize this might not be everyone's cup of tea. Red, burgundy, OD green, etc might be easier for everyone.
I can't remember what the minimums are for weaving a chambray, I have outlined them somewhere on the forum before, but they are massive. Like, we have to make enough for at least a 1000 shirts. Weaving the black was a big decision, I can't see us making other colours.
We will release other colours in the IHSH-13 and 21, with both long and short sleeved versions, but the chambray will be lighter and we will garment dye rather than eave a new chambray.

I'd love an Iron Heart waxed canvas jacket with lining. I have a Filson Short lined trucker, but its made for a stout man with short arms. Can't find anyone to do an alteration. Being 6'7" with a slim build, it's nice that IH makes shirts that actually fit me. A well made waxed trucker/type III with side and chest pockets, corduroy or moleskine collar, a flannel or satin lining, and sleeves that are long enough to reach your hands, would be amazing. I've searched through many brands and there's always something lacking in the what they offer. I did a search and didn't see any previous requests for this.
Thank you.

@Filthy25ozJunkie I've never seen that fabric, but "about 70% heavier than our heaviest flannel" is all I need to know!
@Chris I can understand why Haraki-San wouldn't want to do this, but hey we can hope! Kind of reminds me when my Dad was visiting years ago and I asked him to make me some dog treats…he was a pastry chef. As he was making said dog treats and laughing he sad and I quote "the highlight of my career"

the pants and all are great. i don't really contribute here much, but seeing what's been going on, a "sweatpants" like fabric like those from the hoodies and stuff could make a great product. a really chilled lounge pants kinda thing..

I also would like an over-engineered waxed canvas jacket, but not a short type III. I'd like something the length of the mid-length Filson & Barbour jackets (and since I'm at it, I'd like a removeable hood on that).

Just musing away on the sofa and it came to me … an ivory leather riders jacket ...

@Giles do you know if IH will ever do any more baseball T's (IHTL-1508)?

A waxed N-1 deck jacket (with cord collar instead of alpaca) would be pretty great for spring, or even fall if it had heavy lining. But I could understand the desire for a new silhouette (although it could be a nice change for the N-1 considering it's been whipcord for awhile).
