        Hello all, first post here.

        I just wanted to share my experience today at the Amsterdam airport. I always make sure to not have anything metal on me when travelling in order to speed the process of the security check as much as possible, and this time was no exception. They have a body scanner in AMS instead of just metal detectors, and it detected something in my right pocket and both ankles. A security person came to search me. After a thorough search he told me to wait, and another security guy, who looked more senior came to perform a second search. After the insulting, in my opinion, question "May I search you, sir" (given that I don't really have a choice). He searched me and asked: "What happened to your jeans?" and I answered, naturally, "Nothing, it's just a heavy pair of jeans" and I showed him the patch. He asked me if I wear something other than underpants beneath it, then asked me all sorts of questions, from where did I get them, how much they cost why did I want so heavy jeans, what is the actual weight, where I was from, what I was doing in Amsterdam and if I had the hotel reservation papers with me. All these didn't convince him, obviously, since he took me behind a curtain and asked me to take it off. I told him this is humiliating but I couldn't really do something so I unbuttonned my fly. He inspected the fly a bit more and fortunately didn't ask me to remove the pants completely. "I work here eleven years, I haven't seen fabric like this" he said and finally gave up. He pulled the curtain away and gave me the OK to pass "Your bags are over there".

        "Do you understand why we searched you?" he asked a few moments later. I was frustrated beyond words by that time and I responded affirmatively so that the incident would end as soon as possible, but he insisted. "It is important to understand why we searched you". "Yes" I replied again, thinking George Orwell would be amused.

              They'll look better with wear and after a soak, but I really like the fit already.

              Yep, I'm tending to agree, the more I look at the pics. Once the length is gone and they've come in at the waist and sides. It will all be good. Thanks again forum folks 🙂

                Well, I had a good amount of shrinkage and I'm pleased to say that these fit great!
                Here's how they measured out after one warm wash and then a hot wash as the warm wash didn't do much.
                There may be a little bit of shrink left in the inseam, but that's not the end of the world if there is down the line.

                W- 33.5 -> 32.5
                FR-11.1 -> 10.5
                RR-15.2 -> 14.5
                Th-12.9 -> 12.5
                Knee-9.4 -> 8.9
                Hem-8.9 -> 8.5
                Inseam- 36.8 -> 35

                Here's the after pics

                  I want these so bad but I have to prioritize my IH budget this year with all of the cool flannels coming out.  Question for those that have these and the 21oz 634s; how different is the fabric/shade of indigo?  IMO the 634UHR seem to have a more medium blue color to them from the get to than the standard dark indigo color of the 634s 21oz, would you say that is the case?

                    @manufc10 The UHR 21/23 oz. denim is slightly lighter in color than the other iterations of IH denim. It has more of a bluer, natural indigo look to it. Raw it is very stiff and hairy, and has a soft fuzzy-flannel like hand to the gentle touch. But, is very rigid and abrasive underneath. They soften up very nicely. It lacks the sheen of other IH denims, but doesn't get that "sweatpantsy" feel. (Especially my favorite, the 25 oz. XHS).

                    While flagship 21 oz. sanforized IH denim is very smooth and silky to the touch, with an almost gunmetal appearance in it's raw form. It has a certain polyester feeling quality to it at first…. (definitely not a bad thing), I love it so much. But, gets unbelievably soft with a little wear. Please refer to this threadfor some pictures of the various IH denims for a  close-up visual reference.

                      thanks @Filthy25ozJunkie .  Very helpful information.

                      I love my 21oz 634s and I can't believe how soft they are for such a heavy denim.  It's a nice break from the crispy stuff.

                      I think I will be picking these up sooner than later.  I also want the 634s in black and I wish the grey was also still available.

                        @manufc10 glad to help. But, if you want soft…You should check out the 25 oz. range. But, the UHR feels more like a traditional denim to me.

                          @manufc10 thank you!! I'm super happy with the fit.

                          the cut in this model is ever so slightly roomier than my other 634's and damn are these ever comfy. Even with the denim being as gnarly as it is!! Really happy I stuck with this size.
                          The colour and texture of these actually remind me of the jeans that used to be in the work wear shop that my Grandfather (who was a farmer) always went to, and of the jeans that all of the farm hands used to wear when I was a kid 🙂

                              took some quick pics of these today roughly 1 1/2 months of continuous wear. initial soaking and one quick hand wash. (took 'em camping, they were pretty dusty but not worth firing up the washing machine)
                              Really, really like this denim  😘

                                I just saw this now… I go through airport security all the time and have the same problem. But I got TSA precheck now so I just go through a metal detector. If I go through the portal scanner 25 oz denim is an all over pat down.

                                I just tell them these are Japanese $400 jeans meant to be heavy for riding a motorcycle and they understand.

                                  I got the pat down the last time I went through security in iron heart jeans, too. I was also wearing a SH 64, which seemed to befuddle them, too.

                                        ^Took delivery of my new UHRs last night and man… did I forget how thick, stiff, crunchy and abrasive this denim is!
                                        It made the duck 816s I received in the same package seem positively tame and light-weight, like the UHR can eat it for breakfast [emoji52]

                                        Raw, I noticed the waistband is tight compared to the hip section which is flaring out from each side just under the waistband.

                                        The waist will be on point with a few wears but I need to shrink and tidy up those hips without shrinking the waist beyond wearability point.
                                        I'm thinking of a staged soaking operation: 1) quick and cold soak up the the waistband, then 2) a much longer soak below the waistband. Hope it works as intended..

                                        Any advise from fellow 634-UHR wearers?
                                        Thanks for any feedback in advance!

                                          @zatenm from what I've noticed with my pair, is they are definitely cut slightly wider right at the hip than my other 634 variants and it will shrink down significantly, but they will still be roomier right at the hip.
                                          Personally, I would just shrink the whole pant rather than fiddle around doing it in pieces. But that's just me 😉
                                          I noticed that the denim stretches out quickly and easily so I reckon that the waist shouldn't be a factor after a bit of wear. (I like mine so much I'm actually thinking of grabbing a size down for a slimmer fit, I'm not worried about the post soak waist at all)
                                          You already have this denim so you know what a treat you're in for.
                                          Congrats on a killer pair sir. Enjoy them!!

                                            I just wore all my UHRs (1955, 666 and 634) without washing/shrinking them first. The waistband loosens up and the roominess at the hip section disappears quickly. Just remember Giles' warning that the denim is so course it could cut through the stitching. There is no sign of this happening on any of mine, which have been cold water machine washed every few months or sooner if necessary. I love them!

                                            Battled with my 25 oz, won the war!
