I am sure this post will upset a lot of people this is not my intension but, I refuse to go down without a fight. I am begging the mods to not delete this post it needs to be seen. I am not trying to rise against you, please rememeber I was once one of you. I only want this place to be fun again. I have spent way to much time on here and spent way too much money on Iron Heart to not give it one more final push.
I know all of you that have been here for a long time, feel the same way!
I challenge all of you to try and help make this place fun again. Be creative, think different!
I do have no fecking clue how you came up with, to even think about, a constructive post would get deleted in here. We have never done this, nor are we going to do this in the future.
I also do not see why anyone would get upset about this. It is a valid observation that the structure of the forum have changed over the years. It is sadly part of grow that once a group gets bigger, it will be getting less personal…The whole thing only works if anyone is willing to share and we are happy and thankful for anyone who spent time to post pictures and stuff. I agree with what Max said, that sometimes or a lot of times, contributions are not getting the attention they would deserve. However the thing about sharing for me, is the sharing itself and not some sort of reward with comments or reactions. But this might be a very isolated personal view on things.
There was never a word that you guys are not allowed to be open and honest against each other, as long as it is done in a at least half respectful way, you are more than welcome to do so. And also feel free to scratch the respectful, in case you wanna play with me, I don't mind.... PC is most of the time b/s in my book... rock n roll, ;)...

Max that was an insightful post. I appreciate your posts & your honest none a$$kissing-hive-mentality-minions-posts. The dynamic has changed here where every post from G$ is meet with hive-fives & love. Don't get me wrong, I understand this is an IHUK forum & as such they are flipping the bill for us to put what is deemed appropriate . . . but come on. My direct problem is when forum member XXXX says he/she doesn't agree with what ever G's response in public is, "well it is my party & get out cause I said so." Everyone is subject to a bad day, but that is straight bull$hit & I don't agree with it. The only reason I didn't use the person I am talking about name is cause I honestly am not "friends" with the person & don't want to put him/her on blast.
Now let's be clear, I understand when I put my content on IHUK I have this platform because of IHUK & as such I have to play nice or by the rules set forth. Everyone wanting to feel free & all the other stuff it ain't happening. This is a forum for the discussion of Iron Heart gear. . . everything else is secondary. Did I have love for this place, abso-fucking-lut-100%-ly but do I also say to myself. I can talk to my one or two friends in real life who are local & like the same stuff & avoid the soap opera drama of this forum cause if I say something/anything the big cheese doesn't like I will be shunned by the rest of the crew. I shouldn't feel that way about posting here. If you been here long enough you have feelings about most regular posters & develop different relationships. When I wasn't posting much I had a few folks who would send me messages from time to time just checkin in on some regular nice people stuff. One or two of them where actual mods & I thought that was what this place should be really about. Hawking Iron Heart goods & making sure the community who purchases Iron Heart goods are taken care of.
People with a common interest who happen to take care of each other is a great thing.
Okay so after that blithering post, which I am too stubborn to delete, I'll make my points & intentions very clear.

I love Iron Heart clothing
I like most forum members that are a bit off center & say things I may not agree with but at least have an opinion (4c, seul, max power, finn666, injunjack, mike c, adam the arty dude who broke out, even landocal)stop kissing a$$ & have an independent thought

I don’t think the issue is whether or not anyone feels like they can constructively criticize members. It’s a lot deeper than that. I was hoping that when Der666 decided to step down as a mod that would jolt some sense into this. If a seasoned forum member got to see how the internal structure of the forum is run and decided to leave because of it, that should set off a lot of bells. The forum has changed over the years and it was a great place with threads that stayed on track and had plenty of politically incorrect banter. I love Iron Heart clothing and the community that has been created from it. I posted a lot more back then because I loved showing all the details of clothing and how amazing the construction is. I felt like Iron Heart deserved as much exposure as it could get. I never felt like I needed to edit my posts because I might make giles/mods mad and ban me for it. Since Lando left/was banned/whatever the forum has slowly gone downhill and the final two blows were MikeC and Adam getting banned. When Lando was a mod I never even thought about mods. I saw them as people in the background carefully keeping things moving. That’s not how I feel now, I feel scared to post an opinion. A lot of members feel the same way and I hope they speak up as well. Hell, even Megatron left and made his own forum because of the exact same feelings awhile ago. I don’t necessarily think any of the mods need to change or anything like that, but please stop throwing it in our faces that this is a dictatorship. We get it. I just hope that you can drop the egos and see if there is anything you can do to make this a friendly place again.

I spat my dummy out just over a year ago because I didn't like the changes in the dynamic of the forum. Some members were rattling my cage and amusing/ constructive discussions seemed to get shut down quickly, and not necessarily by mods, or were driven into banality by the same people endlessly.

I came back here because I realised that nothing is solved by me taking my ball and going home, so I tried/ try to be a positive influence here mainly. Sometimes I slip, sometimes I still get my buttons pushed but I try to take a breath before reacting these days.

I know that some people think less of me these days, some people probably think that I "sold out". What actually happened was that my responsibilities changed, I tried to find work in this industry that I love and to an extent I am still trying, so me being a prick wouldn't help me do that.

It used to be more fun around here, no denying that, bigger characters bouncing the discussion and fun along at pace. Strong personalities lead to disputes and I don't know the history of them all but I know enough to know that there are two sides to all of this.
I can categorically say that it will never be like it was, that cannot be recreated, but it can improve and it will be different. We all, as a community, have lost our mojo and it is up to us to get it back.

Great topic jeff… I know what you mean about the fact that the forum used to have a different feel. I also joined in 2011 and always enjoyed seeing a lot of posts from beatle, lando, madmonday, etc...
But honestly this isn't just an ihuk thing. If you take a look on superfuture the conversations are really fucking boring. I honestly have no clue what happened, but it just seems like a lot of people who used to participate a lot just got bored and moved on... You can't forcefully bring people back but i think it's a good idea to say what you really think instead of letting a bunch of goobers dominate waywt, etc... But then again, we shouldn't go purposefully making the forum a mean place and scaring off potential members. It's a tough balance.
About the g "its my party" thing... obviously he means it (or he wouldn't say it) but I also take it as the fact that G is a cheeky bastard and that it's really not a dictatorial thing, but really a simple reminder that g hosts the party so ultimately it's his word that's final. And also imo he doesn't exercise it unjustly... (the gustin thread was shit anyway)

I can understand all sides. Overall this forum provides a great wealth of knowledge. I frequent a few other forums and even help run one now. I can understand Mods and Admin letting loose once in a while as it takes more work than it looks like to keep things in order. Still I am comfortable in an atmosphere where everyone from the top on down is respectable.
No everything doesn't have to be PC but there is too much cynical, uncaring attitude going on in the world already.I personally have directed many people to this forum and the IH wares. Some love it and others have felt uncomfortable. I feel that it can be an exclusive club here at times as I see newbie posts with no one responding. Like they aren't there. On the other hand these are isolated incidents. We know you can't please everyone either.
Nothing wrong with taking an outside look at hows things are going in the forum as I am sure everyone is busy trying to keep a business going and live our busy lives. I want to thank everyone who works on the forum for all the hard work. All the cool members too. This is an invaluable place.

In the main the way this forum has been moderated has not changed from day one. We try to have a really light touch; we delete very very few posts and the only reason we have banned people is that they are offensive and disrespectful of others. Some of you will not like it that others have been banned, but without having a "why we banned a person" thread, you will only ever see the tip of the iceberg. We do not ban people lightly and discuss it it in great depth before we do.

I totally agree with Ben here. That is no IHUK Forum problem but a problem for many denim forums. MyNudies is completely dead. Sufu has ups and downs. But more downs lately. IndigoRoots is dead. DC4 tried to have a forum but it took a nosedive pretty quick.
IHUK and Denimbro are the ones that still do pretty well in comparison.Maybe (just like MaxPower said) it’s because of the smartphone-era where you just take a short glimpse but don’t comment. Or you use IG where you post pics but you can’t get a fucking discussion going there as you don’t have really a “room” (like a thread) to discuss it.
Reddit seems to be pretty active and big but it’s just so confusing to browse and find threads and get a straight discussion going (or I am just too old).About the honesty of criticism: back in 2010 when I joined the WAYWT-thread of the IHUK was one of the most awful ones and still most of the times there was a lot of ass-kissing and wrongful compliments (I think only the Fedora Lounge can undercut that
). Of course there were also a lot of exceptions with great, great posts where people dressed extremely well. I really think that changed to the better in the last years. Of course everything in my opinion: the WAYWT got way better so there wasn’t a need for harsh and honest criticism lately.
Of course, the WAYWT is only a small aspect of the whole thing. -

in context to Urbs post, a thing to consider, when people describe you 50% of a picture they have seen from their point of view, you will in the end have hardly a idea how the whole thing looks like… no easy calls were ever made... as Giles already said.
also the mods are not here to entertain you guys all the time, all of you have the power to start threads and work on ideas, have a look on the stuff Gav set up and that faded into.... since the people that where up for it, didn't feel like taking care after a few days / weeks....
