Things are turning up, two of three of my teams which i feel emotionally attached to have come through.
Seriously now.. no other sporting event, or event of ANY kind, has fucked my productivity like the World Cup.Agreed. Between the WC and a new SE website. How am I supposed to get anything done

@louisbosco: Totally am with you about Ivory Coast. It was fun to watch them, and I was so routing for them to advance.
Today am very keen to see how France and Argentina fare, and send some good wishes over to our Swiss friends, their great (German) coach deserves a good closing of his career! -

Ah, thanks! They showed pretty strong so far. Not so sure about some of their fans, I've heard somewhat ugly things about them. And well, what I think about their jerseys I've mentioned here before…..

Revenge of the Europeans in group E! I'm so happy for the Swiss (hopp Schwiiz!!) and the French seemed to have a sort of blockage against scoring today. Plus a superb Nigerian (my mistake: it was, of course, Ecuador they played, whereas Nigeria is their next opponent) goalkeeper working against them.
Argentina is largely a one-man show of Lionel Messi. The man's a genius, but how far can he take his team, who come across as so mediocre?
Here, everybody and his cat are talking about Germany v. USA tomorrow. Will they draw or will they not? -
Man o man I would love a draw tomorrow. Maybe even two. I was glad to see the Swiss move on as well.

No, I am, alas, no clairvoyant…..simple mistake. Should have read "Ecuadorian goalkeeper". Naturally, such gaffes are spotted and corrected here almost instantly!

So Luis Suarez has been banned for nine games, four months minimum. I think this is a good decision. Grave enough to bring the point home about the unacceptability of his behavior, and yet giving him a chance for probation and to continue his career in the autumn, hopefully a "socialized" culprit who will know in what to bite and where not.

Saw the German squad deliver a solid, but not very exiting game in which they didn't allow the US many chances. Germany keeps its record clean as a team never missing the knock-out stage. But they didnt look like a potential World Cup winner to me!
The USA a lucky loser who also advances. Ronaldo's goal will be small consolation for the Portuguese.
