Found a really nice beer store.  Had to severely restrict my purchases to make sure I could get it all home with me.  I miss the days when you could stuff a bag full of booze and carry it onto the plane.  Beer bottles in checked suitcases being tossed around by baggage apes is just begging for disaster.

It topped 100* F here yesterday. First truly hot day here in the SLC wearing 25oz denim. At least we have almost no humidity.

Doing an intensive course in japanese at the moment, 9 hours a week after work at a summer university. Managed to read (and understand ) a whole sentence with hiragana, katakana and kanji for the first time this week. Although I've studied japanese once a week for almost three years before this it's been a constant struggle because my teacher wasn't very good and the first two years everything was translated to romaji (our letters) which isn't very useful unless all you want to learn is spoken phrases and/or understanding spoken language. Very motivated at the moment and planning a trip to Japan this fall!

Aaaaaand it's official! Gonna spend three weeks in Japan in september - will include a trip to IHHQ as well of course
