Doing an intensive course in japanese at the moment, 9 hours a week after work at a summer university. Managed to read (and understand
) a whole sentence with hiragana, katakana and kanji for the first time this week. Although I've studied japanese once a week for almost three years before this it's been a constant struggle because my teacher wasn't very good and the first two years everything was translated to romaji (our letters) which isn't very useful unless all you want to learn is spoken phrases and/or understanding spoken language. Very motivated at the moment and planning a trip to Japan this fall! -
G why do not create a partition on your Mac hard drive and run Win 8 on it. Use parallels it's a great program

I have VMWare which I need to run IE because one of our shipping apps has to run in IE.
The UPS programme has to be loaded onto a PC and none of the UPS people have been able to load it onto our VM partition (basically it falls into the too fecking difficult pile I suspect)…..
And whilst I fecking hate Windows, Paula hates Word and Excel on Mac, so she likes the Windows environment for when she is power Wording and power Excelling...

It's pathetic to me as a technologist that people allow IE dependencies to live on in their applications. It was a bad idea then and it's indefensible now.

G I'm dabbling with getting Win8 running inside a VM @ the moment. Some of work's software is not browser-based :-X. That said their Win8 Image is customized beyond any known standards so won't fire up in VMware. If I manage to get a clean build working (as it should work out of the box), I'll get the image over to you. Considering you're already licensed, there's nil license issues here. It's a pet project when I get 20-30 minutes, so weeks/months out, but yeah, I'm on it…
