A rare case of a kid putting his hands on me happened at the end of my shift tonight.  To say I'm a little fired up would be an understatement.

            I hate Barclays.

I transferred £150 across from the Netherlands to the UK to pay some outstanding rent, and got charged £6 for the pleasure. If it had been paid in Euros I'd have avoided the charge because of the SEPA rules. 😞

I do not want to open a shit storm here.  But I had a discussion about this when I was in NYC.  "Made in USA" can be great but equally it can mean "made by underpaid Mexicans (substitute a few other nationalities here if you so wish)  in USA".  I promise you, if I send denim to a sweat shop in LA, I can get jeans made for USD12 per pair.  That is simply not right - I know how much time and how many processes gord into making even a shit pair of jeans…

See "American Apparel" as an example  😠

In all honesty, the whole "made in….." thing is a purchasing placebo. What you should be looking for is quality materials and quality construction, regardless of what nationality put the item together. Some of the denim brands from China at the moment look very good (Red Cloud and Co etc..), equally I have had a pair Japanese made Fullcount jeans that were simply awful.

In this kind of niche wear, we pay for quality plain and simple, and after a while you get to know and appreciate that quality, and something of a lower standard simply does not cut it.

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

Everything comes down to quality control. I've seen a lot of product that has come out of China that is absolute garbage. I've seen product that have been made on the same machines in China that is awesome. If you don't have a manufacturing line with high tolerances and a work ethic that says "this doesn't meet my standard, toss it", you're going to have junk

FYI - Japan had gone through the painful process modernization/manufacturing decades (and I mean decades) ago.  When it first started, many of the goods were of dubious quality.  Over the years, it became very good in making things.  China is going through the process and catching up (albeit very slowly).  If and when quality is there, it is a nation to be reckoned with.

Would like to add that to be made in USA only 70% has to be made here. Also don't forget the US has territories that are technically part of the country but have more relaxed laws regarding labor.  As with any kind of product the best shit comes from small outfits, not huge companies with more interest in stocks and shareholders than making a quality product.  Doesn't matter which country it comes from. To me, people are people. And quality is quality.

And I give you Visvim as a great example.  Despite the urban myth that they are made by Japanese artisans in China, they are not, they are made by Chinese artisans in China.  Like them or hate them, you can't knock the impeccable quality of construction….

you're lucky. the dog that chewed on my bandana is one feckin' fierce dog. my mate got bitten by him before. 2 deep punctures and a handful of blood. thats why i had to use food and stuffs to lure that bastard away before i could get back my bandana. 😃
