I do not want to open a shit storm here. But I had a discussion about this when I was in NYC. "Made in USA" can be great but equally it can mean "made by underpaid Mexicans (substitute a few other nationalities here if you so wish) in USA". I promise you, if I send denim to a sweat shop in LA, I can get jeans made for USD12 per pair. That is simply not right - I know how much time and how many processes gord into making even a shit pair of jeans…

See "American Apparel" as an example
In all honesty, the whole "made in….." thing is a purchasing placebo. What you should be looking for is quality materials and quality construction, regardless of what nationality put the item together. Some of the denim brands from China at the moment look very good (Red Cloud and Co etc..), equally I have had a pair Japanese made Fullcount jeans that were simply awful.
In this kind of niche wear, we pay for quality plain and simple, and after a while you get to know and appreciate that quality, and something of a lower standard simply does not cut it.

Everything comes down to quality control. I've seen a lot of product that has come out of China that is absolute garbage. I've seen product that have been made on the same machines in China that is awesome. If you don't have a manufacturing line with high tolerances and a work ethic that says "this doesn't meet my standard, toss it", you're going to have junk
